Attn: Teachers!
Do you know about the Cinema Arts Centre's Film Arts in Education program? Film Arts in Ed presents screenings for schools in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Traditionally, these ongoing community outreach activities have consisted of easily arranged and modestly priced field trips for junior and senior high school students and are an important part of our year-round exhibition program of outstanding American and international films.
Films can enliven and enrich your students’ educational experience in a variety of ways: as introductions to the language and culture of other countries, as opportunities to see and hear dramatizations of great literary works, and as explorations of past history or contemporary society. Designed for students in the International Languages, Literature, Social Studies, Film Studies, History, Music, Criminal Justice, and the Arts, our programs can also be used in conjunction with the interdisciplinary area studies and innovative curriculum projects popular in so many of our region’s schools.
Upcoming selections include:
THE ZONE OF INTEREST, an historical drama that portrays the idyllic life that the family of Nazi commandant Rudolf Hoss enjoyed in a sumptuous house right next to the concentration camp in Auschwitz right in the middle of the Holocaust.(Countries of origin: United States, United Kingdom, Poland; Languages: German, Polish, Yiddish)
THE TASTE OF THINGS, a French historical drama about an esteemed cook and the fine gourmet with whom she has been working for over the last 20 years. (Country of Origin: France, Belgium; Language: French)
