Good Morning,
What a profound thought - doing what is right because we should, not because we don't want others to see who we really are or want them to see us in a particular way.
As I was driving home from teaching at the college on Wednesday, I happened to come across a live interview of Lou Holst on EWTN radio. The discussion was centering on his philosophy of life and his role in helping young people both on and off the football field.
To me it his comment centers on the fundamentals of who we are. Do we act responsibly and do things because it is what we believe is fair, honest and good or we do it because we want others to see or don't want to get caught?
So much of today seems to be image. Things are done because of the image it presents rather than sincerity, honesty and integrity. People, so often, seem to act differently behind closed doors when no one is watching than they do in public.
I think each of us should pause and ask: Who am I? What do I stand for? Am I willing to stand up for it both privately and in public. Let's do what is right because it is the right thing to do in every situation and not just when we want everyone to see how we are behaving.
Have a great week.
Jim
