Auburn Area Democratic Club Newsletter

AADC MONTHLY MEETING - February 6, 2025


This month's meeting will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 6:00pm. Our monthly Members Meetings are held in the Rose Room at Auburn City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn.

Meeting Schedule

We will have general socializing starting at 6:00pm, with pizza and soft drinks available for $5.00 per person. Our speakers will come next at 6:30, followed by club business. We will end the meeting by 8:00pm. Bring a Friend!


Our Topics

  • A few words from our ADEM Delegate candidates
  • A panel Conversation on Immigration : This is an opportunity for us to hear directly from individuals in our local immigrant community and from other advocates about immigration. The panel will take questions from attendees. To make the discussion as relevant and impactful as possible, we encourage you to submit your questions in advance. Whether you’re curious about the challenges immigrants face, about the impact of immigration policies, or about ways to support immigrant communities, your questions will help guide this important conversation. IN SERVICE This year’s MLK March in Rocklin was a lovely event on what was otherwise a dark day for many of us. Leading up to the day, I had decided I was not going to watch the news but instead put energy into my community and into some self-care. While at the MLK March the keynote speaker, Judge Dixon, gave a beautiful speech reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King’s words on service. To me service really is about compassion. An acknowledgement of the complexities of human existence, how each of us navigates through those complexities and the value of giving grace to others because we all know how hard and messy life can be.

Don’t Spin Your Wheels Focus on What Will Work

Your head aches from reviewing the drama that Trump has created. Your stomach hurts. Stop right now. All the executive orders, all the firings of good people, all the disruption and drama--these are deliberately designed to make people afraid. Trump doesn’t have a plan (or a clue) about how to govern; he is just breaking things. That’s what bullies do.

VOTER REGISTRATION TO BEGIN AGAIN AT SIERRA COLLEGE

In our continued efforts to engage young voters, the AADC voter registration teams will be returning to Sierra College campus next week. The Tuesday team, headed by Robert Sherriff, will be on campus the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month: January 28, February 11, February 25, March 11, April 8, and April 22. The Wednesday team, headed by Gail Bartlow, will be on campus each week, with the exception of the week before Easter.
