SUMMER READING KICKOFF

Join us in a galaxy far, far away to kick off our 2019 summer reading program, “A Universe of Stories”! We’ll have games, crafts, and a special visit from a couple of your favorite Star Wars characters! Register for our 2019 summer reading program, and have a blast at the Library! (Sponsored by the Friends of the Library) 
ART IN THE HILLS, JULY 20-AUGUST 17, 2019

Artists are cordially invited to join us for the Art in the Hills Art Show, hosted by the Auburn Hills Public Library. To submit your art, please read the Submission Guidelines, fill out the submission form, and present it with a photo of your entry at the Auburn Hills Public Library by July 13, 2019. DIY Resin Galaxy Art

Play Bring the magic of the cosmos to your living room when you create a galaxy with fiber optic cables and resin! Attach fiber optic cables to the back of a canvas, then swirl your own galaxies with colorful resin--all for free! Sponsored by the Friends of Auburn Hills Public Library.

Stranger Things Escape Room Saturday, June 29

You’re trapped in the Upside Down, and you and your friends only have an hour to work together and solve the puzzles that will lead you to freedom. Knowledge of the TV show is helpful, but not necessary to play. Will you survive??

Join us for rhymes, songs, finger plays, and stories! This storytime is for ages 3-6, and will include age-appropriate activities. Preschool Storytime provides a wonderful opportunity to practice listening, following directions, and getting ready for preschool. There will be a special outdoor campfire sing-a-long storytime on June 27, weather permitting.

Family Storytime

Bring the whole family to enjoy a Saturday storytime at the Library! Activities will be geared to ages 6 and under, but older siblings are welcome. Our storytime on June 29 will be all about pilots and astronauts, and our July 13 storytime will be a glow- in-the-dark storytime!

Family LEGO Club

Families can spend quality time together and build with LEGO! Each month will feature a new building theme. Completed builds will be displayed until the next LEGO meeting. Registration is not required.

Interactive Movie Night

Escape the summer heat, and come enjoy a movie and snacks at the Library! We’ll have interactive movie scripts so you can participate along with the movie. On June 17, we’ll show a family-friendly movie featuring a robot who visits outer space. On July 1, we’ll blast into space with some furry friends!

Launch into Summer Reading Wednesday, June 19

Help us kick off our Summer Reading Program by building rockets! We will decorate and build our rockets at the Library, and launch our rockets together at 3:00 pm.   Registration recommended.

Public Safety Night

Police cars, fire trucks and ambulances, oh my! Come on out and meet Auburn Hills’ finest! We will have a variety of police and fire vehicles and ambulances for you to explore. Meet the fine men and women who keep us safe and come to our aid when we call! We will meet in the Library parking lot.
Armchair Astronomy

(Trailblazers, Grades 2-5)

Trailblazers, here is your chance to experience a trip through outer space! From the comfort of your chair, join us as we zoom through our solar system and experience some amazing phenomena. 
Registration recommended , as space is limited. Younger children may attend with a parent if space allows.
Campfire Sing-A-Long
Thursday, June 27, 7:00-8:00 pm (All Ages)

Come gather around the campfire as we sing songs, play games, and tell some fireside stories. There will be a refreshing summer snack and plenty of fun to go around. Children MUST be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Visit the Friends' Used Book Sale Room in the main floor alcove!
June Special is: Paperbacks, 3 for $1. In July, you can pick up some Beach Reads (buy one, get the second for half-price).

The Spring Used Book Sale was a huge success this year. We would like to thank everyone who shopped with us. We hope to see you again in October!

We had 16 baskets in our Silent Basket Auction, with donations from: Belle Tire, Auburn Hills Community Center, Meadow Brook Theatre, Deborah's Sola Salon, Meijer, Costco, LaVida Massage, Salon 35, Kruse and Muer, and Oakland University. We would like to thank all those who donated items for the baskets, and all the winners.

The Annual Cute Pet Contest is coming soon. Bring a favorite picture of your pet, and submit it from June 15-29 at the Library. Voting runs from July 8-22.
