Raise The Paddle
Funded Item For 2020
Let's make the field a place people want to visit!
Did you know that lights were installed at Ballard High School Field last summer? That is the bright light you see when looking to the Northeast from downtown Ballard! Having a lighted field has really made a difference in the field, really allowing for further and more flexible use of the field. But now we need to make it look good, and make it clear that this is
Ballard High School Field!
Let's make the field look great!
As the world shifts and changes around us, we know we must plan to make our school even more a home for our students - and our athletic teams. So as we also shift to playing more games at our home field, we feel a need to make our home field a true home for our players.

But what does that all mean in practical terms?
1. Beaver Brand Wall : We want to make the North Concrete wall into a professionally painted Beaver Brand wall, painted side to side in red or black as a backdrop to three or four large, full color Beaver branded athletic logos.
2. Seating Bleachers : We want to install sets of bleachers on concrete pads on the west side of the field so our friends, families, and fans have a place from which to cheer on our teams.
3. Sports Team Shelters : We need a sideline home for our teams, for protection and team spirit, branded with the Beaver brand. Our real goal is to have both a home and a visitors shelter, to be gracious hosts as well as enthusiastic supporters of our teams.
4. Beaver Branded Field Storage Unit: We want to safely store and protect the equipment currently left on the athletic fields, mostly for track and football, in a dedicated shipping container storage unit.
Who would benefit? Our students and their supporters. Teams using the field include boys and girls soccer (about 100 students), boys and girls lacrosse (60), football (about 120), band practice (100), track and field (150), and cross country (100). The PE department uses the field during the day (500 or so students per semester). Spectators at our games have included boys and girls lacrosse (around 100), boys and girls soccer (around 100), JV and freshman football (50-100), and boys and girls ultimate (50-100).
What do we propose to do?
If we raise $20,000, we’ll :
  • Fund the Beaver Brand Wall
  • Purchase and install one set of bleachers
  • Purchase and install one team shelter
If we raise $30,000, we’ll also :
  • Purchase and install a second set of bleachers
If we raise $40,000, we’ll also :
  • Purchase and install a second team shelter
  • Add more field enhancements (such as banners, event tent(s), field signs
If we raise $50,000, we’ll also :
  • Purchase and install a third set of bleachers
  • Purchase a storage unit

Auction Tip #2
Be prepared!
The best Celebrating All Things Ballard experience will be when you use two devices: your personal computer, and a phone or tablet!
At some point before the Online Auction begins on Sunday August 16th, you will get a link to the web page where you will place bids. Prior to the night of Sunday August 23rd , you can access that page from any device you want: personal computer, phone, or tablet. On August 23rd, the night of the Live Streamed Auction , though, while you can absolutely switch between the live broadcast and the bidding page on one device if you want, you may want to watch the live auction broadcast (it will be on YouTube) on your desktop computer, or something with a larger screen, but bid for items you want on your phone.
So be prepared , and decide ahead of time how you want to do this!
What Is A Funded Item?

Every year, the Ballard High School Foundation "raises the paddle" at the Annual Dinner Of Champions and Auction, supporting Ballard High School Athletics. In recent years, BHSF has raised funds in support of the full time Athletic Trainer, and a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

This year as you know, there will be no Annual Dinner Of Champions, but we are having an online auction beginning on 8/16/20 and going through 8/23/20, culminating in a virtual, live streamed auction on the evening of Sunday 8/23/20 @ 7:00pm.

Part of both the online and live streamed auctions will be the Fund A Need ("raise the paddle"), which this year, will be in support of the Field Enhancements we talk about above.

We hope that you will donate to the "Funded Item" and help us make the field Ballard High School Field!
