Natural Diamonds vs. Synthetic Diamonds

Snakes on Rodeo Drive:
Inside Bulgari’s Serpenti Jewelry Pop-Up

Snakes slither, cobras strike and boas squeeze have instilled dread in people for millennia. But snakes also are objects of fascination — for their sly power and a cunning born of a singular evolution. Bulgari has recognized the allure of snakes for 75 years, ever since creating its now iconic Serpenti jewelry in 1948.

Famously worn by Elizabeth Taylor — of whom Richard Burton once remarked, “The only word she knows in Italian is Bulgari” ...

Lebanese Jewellers:
Finding Inspiration amid crisis
A diaspora of makers are forging dazzling new paths
Photography by Billy Ballard
Styling by Benjamin Canares

Whether in Beirut or scattered across the diaspora, a new wave of Lebanese designer-jewellers are digging deep into their rich heritage and the psyche of their crisis-torn nation, building a vibrant and often avant-garde visual language that is fast winning an international following.

This new generation isn’t going in for the usual romanticised cultural references or storytelling. Nor do they want to belong to a “group”; instead, they each, in their own way, weave together the influences and layers of civilisations that make up the Lebanese cultural identity – including Phoenician, Byzantine, Roman, Ottoman and French.

The exhibition Cartier Design: A Living Legacy offers a journey through the history of the Maison and its iconic jewelry. But above all it provides an account of the Cartier style, its distinctive language and excellence of craftsmanship, and the transmission of this vocabulary over time. Through a selection of objects coming from the Cartier Collection as well as private collections, exhibition evidences how Cartier Living Heritage serves as an inspiring resource for designers as its creative repertoires continue to evolve through the permanent and universal curiosity of the Maison from generation to generation.

Anne Eisenhower’s Spectacular Jewels:
‘Once you’ve seen them, you’ll never forget them’
When asked by Architectural Digest in 1990 — the same year she was named one of the publication’s Top 100 designers — to describe her interior design style, Anne Eisenhower responded, ‘Traditional, but for today’s living: comfortable, with a “lived-in” look; uncluttered without appearing austere.’ As known for her humble character as for her undeniable glamour, the late philanthropist and designer approached all aspects of her life with that same sense of effortless grace.

According to the industry experts, there are a few key factors to consider.
