Arts Updates, Interviews, Calendar, Calls for Artists and Volunteers, Auditions --- It's All Here in Arts Blast, Arts Blast on the Air, and on Facebook. | Supporting The Arts & Arts Councils Everywhere
Volume 6 No. 33 | August 16, 2024
Notes from the Editor:
As 2024-2025 schedules are rolling in, an email from Indian River Symphonic Association reminded me to remind you to buy tickets early. Center section season tickets for the coming IRSA season are all but sold out already and the series doesn't begin until January!
Do you feel as though you're slogging your way through a jungle of August humidity, hoping to get to the other side soon and hurricane free? Take heart. Pumpkin spice everything is everywhere, so can autumn leaves be far behind?
Mike Block introduced us to Play for the Vote a few years ago. See a short video in Arts Blast and visit his website for more information.
This Arts Blast offers news of plenty of things to do but there are far more that we can't fit in. Make the Arts Blast calendar at willimiller.com a frequent stop.

A sneak peek at the Garden Club of Indian River County's 2024 ornament!
SEMINOLE INDIANS of INDIAN RIVER COUNTY
Yes, Seminole Indians used to live in Indian River County, FL. As recently as the 1940s and 1950s, they had encampments in three locations in the county – a couple of miles west of Vero Beach just off Route 60 (Route 30), further out Route 60 at the 10-mile bend, and just west of Roseland near the St. Sebastian River and a free-flowing well of fresh water.
Ornament designed by Bonnie Pfiester
Brochure compiled by Jack Phillips
Proceeds from the sale of this ornament will be used by the Garden Club of Indian River County, Inc, for its many community projects.

36th Anniversary Cocktail Reception
Thursday, August 22
5 - 6:30pm
The Environmental Learning Center was founded in 1988 by a group of environmentally conscious pioneers from the Pelican Island Audubon Society, who lived in the community and cherished the nature that thrives in the Indian River Lagoon. Through the support of the community, donors, members, board, staff and a special group of volunteers, they were able to build a nature learning center that teaches visitors about the rich biodiversity of the Indian River Lagoon and the importance of its heritage, preservation and continued legacy in the community and in the world.
The beautiful, unspoiled 64-acre Indian River Lagoon island is a perfect place to lead educational programs and EcoAdventures.
Join the ELC in toasting their 36th anniversary with a special cocktail reception in the Lagoon Room. Enjoy the captivating beauty of Clyde Butcher’s “Living Waters” Art Exhibit, on display during the month of August. Free for members or with paid admission.
