Adapted by Joseph Robinette based on the book by E.B. White Meet Wilbur, the irresistible young pig; Fern, a girl who understands animals; and Charlotte, the extraordinary spider who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer." About the Auditions
Thursday, May 30 from 3-5pm
| Actors ages 8 to 17 are invited to open auditions. Auditioners can arrive any time between 3 and 4:45pm and will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Auditioning actors will be asked to perform a one-minute monologue for the Theatre Artistic Director. (Attend the audition workshop to learn more about choosing the right monologue.)
Please note that only actors who are available for rehearsals during June and July and for all performances will be cast. (Families are encouraged to review the tentative rehearsal calendar in advance.)
Although we can't cast everybody, our aim is to make sure that everyone has a good experience auditioning and will come back to be part of this really incredible children's theatre company.
RSVP to the auditions on Facebook!
Do you have a conflict on May 30? If you cannot attend the May 30 auditions, please contact Reba Short by email or at 828-1234 x247 to schedule an alternate audition time. |

Audition Workshop
Wednesday, May 22 from 3:30-5pm
| Whether you're a veteran actor or brand new to the stage, we recommend attending our audition workshop. We provide audition workshops to help kids feel more at ease with the audition process; a comfortable, confident actor can give a great audition!
We will explain the audition process to young actors by walking you through the process. We'll help you choose a monologue, give you guidance on how to perform it and teach you an improvisational theatre game. The audition workshop is a drop-off programs, but if the actor will be more comfortable with a parent in the room, parents are welcome to stay.
The audition workshop is free, but please sign up in advance. |

Preparing a Monologue
| |
The opening scene of Charlotte's Web shows Fern Arable throwing herself in front of her father's axe to protect a baby pig. We'll need actors who can be serious and play up the beauty and drama of the story.
To audition for Charlotte's Web, we suggest looking to your favorite classic chapter books for monologue ideas. In the script, actors in the ensemble perform lines from E.B. White's original narration. In your monologue, please feel free to include narration and play a character. Just make sure to act out the narration as you go.
We strongly encourage you to memorize your monologue. When you are not looking down at a page, you are able to give your best performance; and by dedicating the time to learn the piece, you are showing the director how much you want to be part of the show.
