Auditions for A Christmas Carol
October 17 & 19 at 7 pm
Auditions for A Christmas Carol will be held on Monday, October 17 & Wednesday, October 19 at 7 pm at Gaslight. Directed by Carmen Ball assisted by Leslie Mooers, this adaption of Dickens’ Christmas Carol has great dramatic possibilities. It is very close to the original story with much of Dickens’ original language. It is humorous, and heart-warming and a little bit scary. The story unfolds behind Dickens himself as the narrator and soon Dickens is weaving in and out of the action, observing, and performing small roles. He handles props and helps Scrooge and others with costume changes. Of course, Scrooge is at the play’s center along with the ghosts - Past, Present and Future as well as Marley. Almost every actor plays more than one part and there is music throughout. A Christmas Carol recaptures the magic and mystique of the Dickens original brilliantly. There are plenty of spots for townspeople, shopkeepers, vagabonds and scoundrels. Off stage we also need costumers, set persons, and tech people. Come down or let Carmen know ahead of auditions if you’re interested backstage.
Cast requirements: minimum 11 men, 6 women, 4 boys, 2 girls. Performances for A Christmas Carol will be Dec 2-4 & 8-10. Contact the Gaslight Theatre Box Office at 580-234-2307 to inquire about checking out a script for perusal.
This chilling Halloween thriller focuses on a seemingly perfect little girl, who is able to charm her way into getting just about anything she wants - anything, except a highly coveted medal that her teacher has awarded to one of the girl’s classmates. During a school outing, the classmate goes missing and it is soon discovered that he has drowned. The little girl’s mother begins to suspect that her daughter had something to do with the boy’s death and other sudden deaths surrounding the family.
