June 10, 2021
Hello,

Brunswick enjoyed the musical premier of Jeff Herwig's composition "A New Beginning" last week to celebrate the (delayed) grand opening of Brunswick's new Middle School. Gary Allen also premiered his documentary on the history of the three prior buildings that were combined into the new Middle School. Middle School band directors Scott Little and Michelle Wonk collaborated on the effort along with percussion instructor Brian Bennett. If you'd like to see the documentary & hear the musical piece, click HERE.

We want to send out best wishes to Paul and Annie Bicksler, of Wadsworth, who are retiring this year. Their retirement will bring the end of the W.S. Bicksler Electric company, which has serviced Wadsworth and the surround area since 1914. Paul and Annie, thank you and your family for all your years in business!

Congratulations to our Medina County Special Olympians who earned Gold Medals last week! Ashley Shook in tennis, Lea Wilson in volleyball and Dominic Vadini in power lifting all excelled in the competition. They will be representing Ohio in the National Games next year in Orlando! Thanks to all the volunteers who made the games possible. Medina's competition is the third largest activity in the state!

Wishing you the very best for this coming week!

Music, documentary celebrate Brunswick middle schools

BRUNSWICK - It’s not every day that one gets a chance to attend a world premiere of a musical composition.

That’s exactly what happened Friday (June 4) when “A New Beginning” debuted at Brunswick Middle School, preceded by a documentary about the history of the three Brunswick City School District buildings that are now blended into one state-of-the-art middle school.

All of it was the idea of band director Gary Allen. Introducing the video, Allen said that when he learned that the three schools would merge into one, he had an idea about creating an original piece of music that eighth-grade students could perform for the new school’s grand opening in 2020.

Downtown parking improvements moving along in Wadsworth

WADSWORTH - Resurfacing as part of a $400,000 downtown Wadsworth parking lot improvement project should be completed in late summer to early fall.

The existing lot is located off Watrusa Avenue between College and Mills streets, with surfaces having deteriorated to the point of being cracked and worn with gravel and patches of grass covering large areas.

Improvements have been a city goal for multiple years with construction experiencing delays due to the coronavirus pandemic and related economic worries. City Public Service Director Robert Patrick touched on the matter Monday, saying that needed electrical infrastructure work has just been completed.
