This Sunday in Worship from
Pastor Sunil:
We have often heard that the end of time is upon us. In Sunday's scripture passage Jesus challenges his audience to deduce the signs of the times and be prepared for the future.
Sermon: "The Signs of the Times"
Scripture Readings:
- Isaiah 5:1-7
- Luke 12:49-56
- Psalm 80:1-2, 8-19
The bulletin will be available on our website as soon as possible. It will be in the green "Bulletins" box next to the livestreaming box on the home page. It will also be in the drop-down menu under the "Worship" tab on the home page.
Pastor Diane prepared devotions for August, which can be downloaded here.

Silent Auction
Of Excess Items
Aug. 21, Aug. 28
There are several items from the former parlor, kitchen, and adjoining conference room that are no longer needed by the church. Items include furniture, dinnerware, serving pieces, art, and more. The trustees are making these items available to the congregation via a silent auction. On two Sundays, Aug. 21 and Aug. 28, come to the Club Room, sign up as a bidder, and browse! If you see an item you or someone you know of could use, place a bid. Most items won’t have minimum bids, so bid what is comfortable for you. Bidding will close at 1 p.m. Aug. 28. If possible, winning bidders should pick up their items immediately after the bidding closes. Anything not bid on will be donated to a worthy cause.

Discipleship and Formation
Join a Band This Fall
This fall you have the opportunity to join a band group. You don’t have to play an instrument to be in the band! A band is a group of three to five people who are deepening their faith in Christ by sharing and praying with one another each week.
Meetings can be held in person or virtually, and are arranged by the groups themselves any time of the week, day or night. There will be six sessions during the weeks of Sept. 11 through Oct. 23. When you sign up you will be assigned to a group, or you can form your own band. Training will be provided to all band leaders and a guidebook will be available to all participants. You can sign up by emailing Amy, fill out the connect card in the bulletin, or at the table in the west entry on Sundays.

Book Sales Generate $370 for Bread and Bowl
Thank you to Dot Owen and Patty Hefner for selling the book of Rev. David Owen's sermons in the west entry last Sunday, and to those who purchased a total of 74 copies. The sale netted a $370 donation to Bread and Bowl.
Additional books can be purchased directly from the Owen Legacy Project at its website. Those purchases do not donate money to Bread and Bowl.
As Pastor/author Phil Gulley said, “Though he is gone, his work and words still illuminate our darkest places, still heal our spiritual wounds, and still, after all these years, leave us all the richer for having known him. Now, in ‘When We Don’t Know the Length of the Race,' you can know him too."
