E Komo Mai! Welcome Back!

Aloha and Welcome!

We’re so excited to have you with us as the new year kicks off. Whether this is your first time in college, you’re returning after a break, or you're trying something new, just know—you belong here, and we’re glad you chose to be part of the Kaua'i Community College 'ohana.

Going to college is a big step, and it’s also a powerful one. You're opening the door to new opportunities, meeting new people, and starting a journey that can shape your future in amazing ways.

At Kaua'i Community College, we’re focused on helping you succeed. We’re working hard to give you the tools, support, and experiences that can make a real difference—whether that’s tutoring, career advice, mental health support, or chances to get involved on campus. Make sure you take advantage of all of these opportunities.

Our faculty and staff are here for you. They care about your goals, your challenges, and your growth. Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, or get help when you need it. That’s what we’re here for.

As you get started, I hope you take a moment to be proud of yourself. It takes courage to start something new. Keep going, stay curious, and remember—you’re not alone in this journey.

Here’s to a great first day and an even better year ahead. You’ve got this!

Technology partnerships and AI Career-Based pathways were also discussed.

The visit was part of a larger biannual neighbor island tour to highlight the ongoing developments of each island and address concerns in areas such as food and product innovations, healthcare systems, education and workforce development pathways, biosecurity, and language access.

Counted Out investigates the biggest crises of our time through an unexpected lens: math.

In our current information economy, math is everywhere. The people we date, the news we see, the influence of our votes, the candidates who win elections, the education we have access to, the jobs we get—all of it is underwritten by an invisible layer of math that few of us understand, or even notice.

But whether we know it or not, our numeric literacy—whether we can speak the language of math—is a critical determinant of social and economic power.
