Senate EPW Marks Up Surface Transportation Bill with MBUF Pilot Funding

With a unanimous vote, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee reported a Surface Transportation Bill on Tuesday out of Committee that included strong support for MBUF Pilot projects. This bill changed the state match from a 50 percent match to a 30 percent match and put STSFA grant funding for five years at $15 million per year

In addition, the EPW Committee signaled strong support for a national heavy vehicle pilot with strong funding over five years. Report language accompanying the bill included recommendations made by MBUFA in the National Trial Guidelines

This is the first title of the bill with other committees still to act, most notably the Finance Committee which decides funding, before the bill will go to the Senate Floor for further deliberations. Nothing has been scheduled yet. The House of Representatives has not announced a schedule for moving legislation.
