Skagit Dads Connect: A New Resource for Local Dads

Our new fatherhood program launches in October! Learn how Skagit Dads Connect supports local dads and father figures who are ready to build on their parenting skills, learn new tools and approaches for strengthening their relationships, and helping their kids succeed.  

Groups are available in English and in Spanish.

Meet The Skagit Dads Team

Jarrod, Dad Coach:  

An experienced social worker, Jarrod draws on his background with incarceration and addiction recovery to help Dad’s reconnect with their children and families, rebuild their lives, and discover hope.  


Best Thing about being a Dad: "Having the privilege of being part of my son's life and watching him grow into an honest, compassionate man."

Genaro, Workshop Facilitator: 

In addition to his primary role as Executive Director of O.U.R. Journey, a local group founded to empower, heal, and support youth in Skagit County through culturally responsive mentorship and peer-led intervention, Genaro co-facilitates Skagit Dads Connect.

John, Family Support Specialist and Workshop Facilitator: 

With a 40-year career in behavioral health, John specializes in trauma, mental health, addiction, employment challenges, parenting, family counseling, and men’s issues.

Bringing Baby Home: A Parenting and Relationship Program

One of the best gifts you can give your child is a good relationship with each other as parents!


Designed for both expecting and new parents, the Bringing Baby Home Program will give you skills and information to recognize and cope successfully with the normal stressors of becoming a family.


Cost $75 per couple for the 5-week course includes an evening meal*.

Time is running out on our grant funding from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).


Through the end of September, we can offer Question Persuade Refer: Suicide Prevention Training (QPR) and Mental Health First Aid Trainings at no cost to local organizations.


Book a training for the day, time, and location that works for your agency, and our certified facilitators will deliver a course proven to empower individuals supporting someone in need. 

Explore the Outdoors

Spend time in local parks and trails with other active older adults from the Skagit area.


Guided by District 304 staff, every walk includes warm-up and cool-down exercises, time to connect with friends, and learn about resources to benefit your health and well-being.


All walks range between 1-3 miles and are considered easy to moderate.


Wednesdays, 10-11 am. 
Cost: $10 per month.

Thrive Rx Meals for the Win!


Participants in our Thrive Rx program have been taking part in weekly cooking classes exploring ways to incorporate nutritious foods and simple meals into their lives. The Around the Table recipes are designed with nutrition strategies tailored for the lifestyle, health, and physical needs of older adults, but work for anyone!


Check out two participant-favorite recipes, perfect for warm summer days and on-the-go meals or snacks, including a vegetarian take on "tuna salad" and a flavorful veggie cream cheese spread.


SNAP Market Match is a great way to add more fruits and vegetables to your meals and snacks! The program helps shoppers buy additional fruits, vegetables, herbs, and plant starts at more than 100 participating farmers markets, including:

Customers who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)/EBT benefits and SUN Bucks Summer EBT benefits quality for SNAP Market Match incentives.


Markets match $10 or more per day, check with your local market for their daily match amount.
