A Message from the Chair
Wow! Our July schedule of events was just as successful as our June calendar.  Record turnout for our Rock Town Distillery Tour and CLR night at the Museum of Discovery! Plus great turnouts for our professional development lunch and Movies in the Park night (in spite of the rain).  We've got another packed month ahead of us with two Happy Hours and an Unplugged Speaker Series event.

We appreciate everyone who participated over the summer in the Land in the Rock events - we know that it made for a meaningful and welcoming experience for the interns, law clerks, and those CLR members who are new to town.  We've invited the interns and law clerks to Thursday's Happy Hour at the Little Rock Club so that we can give them a proper send-off before they head back to college.  We hope to see you there!

Thanks,
Rhonna Wade

Happy Hour #1

The Little Rock Club
Top Floor of the Regions Bank Tower
400 W. Capitol Ave., 30th Floor

Thurs, August 8th
5:30 - 7:30 pm

Complimentary Beer & Wine

The Little Rock Club on the top floor of Regions Tower, with it's beautiful views of the city, will serve as the location for a surprise happy hour this Thursday with complimentary beer and wine.  Don't worry, we'll still have our usual happy hour at the end of the month - we just didn't think you should have to wait that long!  This will also serve as a "sendoff" party for all of the law clerks and interns who have spent the summer with us as part of our Land in the Rock programming.

Registration isn't necessary, but it helps with the head count, so please let us know if you plan to attend.

Parking Instructions:
The Regions Building parking deck is accessible from  4th Street  behind the Regions building.   4th Street is one-way going east from the Broadway intersection. Although you will be issued a ticket upon entry, parking in the deck is free after 5pm.  Street-side parking meters become free at 6pm.

Unplugged Speaker Series

Unplugged w/ Mandy Richardson
Publisher of Soirée Magazine

Wed, Aug 21st,  5:30-6:30pm
Little Rock Regional Chamber - 200 E. Markham

Create Little Rock is pleased to welcome Mandy Richardson, Publisher of Little Rock Soirée Magazine, as our next Unplugged speaker.

Our Unplugged Speaker Series offers the chance to dialogue with local business leaders in a laid-back environment.  Beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided.

Little Rock Soirée is central Arkansas' most-read monthly magazine that celebrates all that's good in Little Rock-good people, good parties, good food and good culture.  Its mission is to  capture the style and culture of Little Rock and its people and to be the ultimate guide to the best the city has to offer.

Mandy is also responsible for overseeing Little Rock Family Magazine.  In May of 2019, she is launching the Soirée Women's Leadership Symposium - a half day conference focused on business women of Arkansas  and encouraging them to lead, succeed and grow business skills to excel in the years to come.
Monthly Happy Hour #2
Wed, August 28th
5:30 -7:45 pm
Take Aim Axe Throwing

Includes Free Beer & Wine

For this month's 2nd Happy Hour, we'll be throwing axes at the new Take Aim axe throwing venue in the Argenta neighborhood in North Little Rock.  We'll have the place to ourselves for 2 hours of throwing! It works kind of like bowling - there are lanes that can accommodate 4 or 5 throwers each, so assemble your crew and show up to compete.  Or play it casually and don't worry about keeping score - it's up to you!

Don't worry if you've never thrown an axe before, neither has anyone else since the 2 axe throwing venues are brand new! The staff there will give everyone an introductory lesson and a few practice throws.

We'll split into two hour-long throwing sessions - one from 5:45 to 6:45 and one from 6:45 to 7:45.  You can select which session you prefer when you register.

The cost is usually $20 per person per hour, but we're getting it for $15, plus we're throwing in free beer and wine.

Drop-In Lubanzi Wine Tasting @ Atlas Bar
Tues, August 27th, 4-6:30pm

We've been big fans of Atlas Bar ( 1224 Main St) in the SoMa district ever since they threw us a great happy hour event back in March.  On August 27th, they're hosting a drop-in Lubanzi wine tasting event from 4-6:30pm for only $15 that will include tasting a r ed blend and a chenin blanc plus they'll have appetizers.  One of the founders, Charles Brian, will be on hand to talk about the wine and tell the Lubanzi story.  There's no scheduled program and no registration - just drop by any time.

About Lubanzi:
Started by two friends, Charles Brain & Walker Brown, and a consortium of successful winemakers, viticulturists, farm laborers, and humanitarians in South Africa, Lubanzi is a wine company that has its roots firmly in adventure and social responsibility. Their name, Lubanzi, comes from a wandering dog that followed the pair on a 6-day, 100-mile hiking trip across a remote part of South Africa called The Wild Coast. They believe strongly in practicing environmental & social responsibility in everything they do. All of their wines are fair-trade certified, sustainably farming certified, vegan, labelled with tree-free paper and, most importantly, 50% of their year-end net profits are entrusted back to The Pebbles Project, a South African NGO that provides health and educational resources to the families that live and work on wine farms throughout South Africa.
