FOOD PANTRY

Pictured: James, Michelle, and Brendan volunteering in the pantry

Today was our last distribution of the summer, and we cannot believe how many families were dependent on us to provide enough food for their families. In the past, summer months were somewhat quiet.

This August:

  • We had 1,317 visits to the pantry
  • Provided 40,498 regular meals
  • Gave an extra 9,438 meals for children

Over 50% of families in almost every one of our local schools rely on free and reduced-priced breakfast and lunch. This is why in the summer, we are so committed to providing extra meals for kids who are used to eating at school. Thanks to you, and a grant from the Southampton Bath and Tennis Charitable Fund, we can help to ensure no child ever goes hungry in our community!

We know that the start of fall means seasonal work will begin to dwindle and more and more of our customers will turn to us to keep their families fed. With your help, we will continue to serve our neighbors enough nutritious food staples every week to feed their families.

Donate today to help ensure no one in our community goes hungry...

Join us on September 13th for Feeding Our Families Food Drive with Long Island Cares and in partnership with NBC and Telemundo. We will be covering the Southampton Stop and Shop and would love to have groups or individuals join us to volunteer.

ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Pictured: Our summer intern, Vivian and Maripaz helping to register new clients

So far this year, we have welcomed 838 new clients to our programs. Each time a new family comes to us we conduct an intake interview to learn other ways we can support them to live their best lives.

In addition to providing food and financial support, we help people apply for entitlement programs such as SNAP, HEAP, REAP, Social Service grants, NYS CHIP, WIC, and private financial support for medical bills. Entitlement programs are being reduced while the cost of living continues to rise. With these changes our clients will be more dependent on our support than ever before.

We are grateful for your commitment to help our neighbors most in need!

BACKPACK KIDS

We hosted our 4th annual Back-to-School Bash! Helping our kids prepare for the new school year was so much fun!

We distributed backpacks in partnership with Supplies for Success, had a delicious breakfast, played games, did crafts, and gave back-to-school haircuts. Thank you, Jan Klein Poremba, Sam Leonardi, and the amazing staff at Lorenzo's Barbershop for generously donating their time to give the kids haircuts. Students were also given toiletries, extra school supplies, and books provided to us by Rogers Memorial Library.

Thank you to the First Presbyterian Church in Southampton for hosting us in their wonderful gathering room. A big shoutout to The Children's School for loaning us all of their amazing outdoor toys to make the party super fun!

A special thank you to our loving volunteers for their help in making it a wonderful day.

Thank you to Hampton Framing and the Life Church for continuing to collect backpacks, lunchboxes, and school supplies. So far, we have given 452 backpacks loaded with supplies. In the coming weeks, we will keep distributing everything kids need for a great start to the new school year. Please join us by donating to support local students today!
