August 2020 News
COVID Operations Update: Birthday Dreams continues to work hard to fulfill urgent birthday requests while maintaining the health and safety of our employees and the community we serve.

With your support, we continue to bring hope, joy and a sense of self-worth to homeless children with the gift of a birthday party. Below is a quote from the parent of a 4-year old who received a Birthday-In-a-Box this July.

"Thank you so much for making my kid's birthday so exciting. Your thoughtful gifts made my little one feel so special. She actually asked me how do "them" know what she likes, "is it Santa Claus?" I told my daughter it is someone who loves us, they sent you the gifts. My daughter said, "I love them."

We are so thankful to our community for their continued support. If you would like to get involved, you will find details about active and passive opportunities within this newsletter.

Community Support and Recognition
A great big thank you to the Girl Scouts of Western Washington for their support of Birthday Dreams and to long-time Birthday Dreams' supporter Learning Express Toys of Renton. The troop used some of their cookie profits to purchase gifts from Learning Express in support of Birthday Dreams.
Renton Technical College (RTC) culinary students are applying their talent and creativity to help Birthday Dreams fulfill our birthday cake needs. It's a win-win situation and we couldn't be more thankful.

The students get to try new baking and decorating techniques while making extra special birthday celebrations for local area homeless children. Learn more.
Volunteer Spotlight | Kimoura

At Birthday Dreams we truly value "kids helping kids." After all, kids are at the heart of what we do. This month we are pleased to feature youth volunteer Kimoura.

During the COVID shut down, Kimoura was able to go into the office with her father Lee, one of our six amazing employees. She spent many hours organizing our storage room of toys and wrapping gifts.  She even showed up on her own birthday to help us with inventory counting.

Kimoura said, "I enjoy volunteering at Birthday Dreams because it makes me happy knowing that I get to help kids who don't have homes, have birthday parties too!"

Thank you Kimoura for your time, energy, and enthusiasm.
