Hello Dames!

We have great fall events planned and hope we will see you at one or more of them soon. All of them are listed in this newsletter with opportunities in West LA, Long Beach, Orange County and Pasadena. Also, we are preparing a quick survey for all Dames to find out what we can do to make LDEI-LA/OC work for you. It will be emailed to you within the next 30 days and we are asking you to participate by providing feedback. In addition, our annual business meeting/ dinner is being planned for early November and we promise, it will be a fun event and one not to miss. Details are coming soon. Patti Londre, PR and marketing pro and new Les Dame member, first made a splash in the mid-80s with her Bootstrap Marketing sessions for the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP).  And she is the FIRST to admit, pretty much NOTHING of those sessions works in today's world. Time to regroup!  Refresh! Rejuvenate! Join us for a fast-paced webinar chock-full of do-it-yourself ideas with something for pretty much everyone. Come away with a list of action steps you KNOW you can do (or get someone to do it for you).


Patti Londre launched The Londre Company, a Los Angeles-based food PR and marketing agency in 1982.  Her popular lifestyle blog, Worth The Whisk captures the passion she has for home cooking and global travel.  She conducts Camp Blogaway Bootcamp for Food and Recipe Bloggers and is a founding member of Food Bloggers LA.  Patti has been a member of IACP for 28 years; she was the first recipient of the IACP Award of Excellence for Marketer/Publicist and has been a judge of the Julia Child Cookbook Awards.  Her sessions on DIY marketing and self-promotion keep attendees always coming back for more ideas.

Reading is So Delicious

Fullerton Public Library Foundation Annual Luncheon 

with Dame Zoz Karmardian of Zov's Bistro


Our own Dame Zov will be delivering the keynote speech at the Fullerton Public Library Foundation benefit on Saturday August 24. Monies raised at the event will go towards the 2014 Summer Reading Program for children. Please come to hear Dame Zov's talk and help the library reach their goal for the children!
BENEFITTING:  All profits from the luncheon will be in support of the upcoming 2014 Summer Reading Program for children.

Volunteering for Event At LA Arboretum

Sunday, Sept.22 "The Feast At Baldwin Ranch"  (LA Arboretum)



This will be the first outdoor farm-to-table feast at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden in Arcadia. It is a fundraiser for Youth Education at the Arboretum. The Les Dames d'Escoffier LA/OC Chapter will pour five wines for five courses that will be prepared by six cutting-edge chefs for the 200 guests. It begins at 5:00 (cocktails), and dinner will be served at 6:30 PM. Dames are asked to arrive at 4 PM and serve until 9 PM. 


Details include:

-Les Dame Member Volunteers - please RSVP to Peg Rahn as soon as possible to peg@peggyrahn.com .  (We need about 12 volunteers so please consider helping us)


-Volunteers will be trained for pouring just prior to the start, so plan to arrive by 4:00pm 

- LDEI aprons will be provided for Volunteers and it is a chance to meet foodies in the Pasadena area who care about Farm to Table

-Parking and details for meeting up will be provided by Peg at sign-up

-A casual dinner will be provided to guests in-between pouring for the dinner (note you will not be eating as volunteers so you may want to bring a sandwich or snack)


Thank you so much to those of you who can participate. It will be a great evening and for a wonderful cause and great exposure for LDEI- LA/OC.

We are looking for a volunteer to take over the Les Dames Newsletter.
 If you are interested in the Communications Chair position and can do newsletters please contact
Marje at marje@mbennettspr.net or Deirdre at dsmichalski@cox.net to apply.
They are currently done in Constant Contact but the database is an excel spreadsheet and can be transferred. We try to do them monthly or as new events occur. (at least bi-monthly)
All graphics and copy can be provided then edited as needed.

Alison Ashton is Director of Operations at Nourish Network a website devoted

to making real meals with real food for real lives. She's also a former senior food editor for Cooking Light magazine, and has written and developed recipes for national magazines and websites, including Vegetarian Times and Natural Health.

Transferring From San Diego Chapter


Tracey is transferring her membership from the San Diego Chapter to our Chapter! Nationally recognized for her award-winning events and over twenty-five years of excellence in the hospitality industry, Tracey has been with the Evans Hotels Group in San Diego for the last 14 years. She does catering sales and operations for
the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa on scenic Mission Bay. Tracey has a special talent for creative design, d�cor, and loves cutting-edge food and beverage trends.




Maria Gomez-Laurens

Dual Membership SD and LA/OC


Maria Gomez-Laurens is a Member of our San Diego Chapter and is now a "Dual Member" in our Chapter too! She is a delight and we want to welcome her to our Chapter. Maria is also on the National Les Dames d'Escoffier Board and serves as a Chapter Board Liaison. Maria was born in Mexico City and moved to San Diego in the early 80's. Her father was a Diplomat for the Mexican Government, and her mother an entrepreneur.  After 20 years in the Hospitality Industry, Maria Gomez-Laurens joined HelmsBriscoe, where she manages Global Accounts and specializes in Mexico Central and South America. She also has her own Wedding and Event Planning business called Imagine.
