"August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.”

Testimonial
I first met Denise and her family while dining at a local restaurant and during casual conversation, I quickly recognized her intelligence, motivation and industry expertise. Years later and after several frustrating experiences with real estate agents, I decided to again try my luck with a real estate transaction in the Flathead Valley. I called Denise and in less than a month and after the most hassle free professional and streamlined real estate experience I've ever had, I closed on a property. Denise's experience, knowledge, integrity and dedication to her clients is obvious in every step of the various entities involved in the process. Denise is the consummate professional. I would recommend Denise to anyone looking to complete a real estate transaction in Northwest Montana. You'll be glad you called her.

Hello dear friends and clients,
The Lang Team is growing! Along with Ashley and Lucy, we welcome our friend and now REALTOR, Nancy O'Kelly to our team. Nancy's past experience in the home design business taught her to listen, plan and organize. She is looking forward to applying those qualities and her knowledge of the Valley to our real estate team! Stop by the office to welcome Nancy!
The beautiful photo of the glads are from Malison Farms. You can visit them for seasonal flowers and other goodies. Visit them on Facebook here.
Where has the summer gone? It's already mid-August and we have had a stretch of the most gorgeous weather and rampant real estate sales that I ever remember. It seems like all the trials and tribulations of Covid times melt away in the Flathead! Buyers are here to enjoy and make their stake in this beautiful valley.
Here are some stats to illustrate my point. In the sold-to-list-price ratio, July 2020 was 99%. Average days-on-market for the same month were the lowest we have seen in many years, just over 100 days. Mid-priced properties go under contract practically as soon as they hit the market.
If your property has expired, contact me. We'll get it listed and sold! My experience, consistent record and excellent negotiating skills will successfully lead you toward a sale at the right price. Call, text or email me. We'll have dinner (I have an in with the local sushi joint).
Best of health, wherever this finds you and if you are here, stop in to the office.
See you soon. Denise

Denise's Book Corner - Light in August by William Faulkner
|
|
Over the weekend I was thinking how we discern the difference in the August light. The change is slight but perceptible. With summer almost gone, it’s a shift that awaits us. That seasonal thought led me to pick up and reread Light in August.
Written and set in 1932 amid Prohibition and Jim Crow (legalized racial segregation), the story begins with the journey of Lena Grove, a young pregnant white woman from Doane's Mill, Alabama, who is trying to find Lucas Burch, the father of her unborn child. Her search leads her to Jefferson, Mississippi where she thinks he works at the mill. Byron Bunch, a bachelor with the same last name does work at the mill and falls in love with Lena. What follows is a fairly complex clash of individuals who embody characteristics of prejudice, Christian allegory, bootlegging and murder.
Faulkner explores themes of race, sex, class and religion in the American South. By focusing on characters who are misfits, outcasts, and marginalized in their community, he illustrates the clash of alienated individuals against a Puritanical, prejudiced rural society. I found this fictional novel a stimulating contrast to current events. As Picasso said, “Art is the lie that reveals the truth.”
