AOPA is Celebrating 100 Years
The American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) is celebrating its 100 year anniversary! AOPA was established in 1917 as the voice for O&P businesses and continues its tradition of advocacy, education and business services. Celebrate with AOPA during the 2017 AOPA World Congress, held September 6-9 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV. In production with 9 international partners, the World Congress will be held in lieu of the annual AOPA National Assembly, the largest O&P show in the country.
During the World Congress, support OPAF & The First Clinics and AOPA’s Capitol Connection (our government relations program) with the Thranhardt Golf Classic at the Las Vegas National Golf Club on Sept. 6. Participate as an individual or a foursome   to enjoy an afternoon of golf with all your O&P friends and colleagues. Other fun events include the Party with a Purpose PAC event at a Prohibition-style speakeasy, the Women of O&P breakfast, AOPA’s Walk through Time historical exhibit, and much more. Learn more about the World Congress.

AOPA is also celebrating with www.AOPA100.org, AOPA’s special website with photos, history, an O&P timeline, and stories from people in the profession.

What Are They Saying...about First Stride in San Antonio?
The San Antonio Amputee Foundation recently hosted and cosponsored a First Stride clinic at the Mission Concepcion Sports Park, where more than 35 therapists participated in a classroom session that covered prosthetic care and included an introduction to gait training for lower limb amputees.

Christine Mercier , “The step-by-step instructions make a lot of sense to my brain that has had a hard time wrapping around the amputation.”

“I had a prosthetic patient tell me he didn’t think he would learn anything new,”  Delia Belleny, PT, “I was pleased at the increased knowledge and better movement.”
