Feed ingredient price changes were relatively quiet in July. Copper moved up, Tryptophan down, July rumors had Methionine weakening. That may have changed on Wednesday, July 29th. Following this news release, just 3 days ago.
Weather threatens to be the next factor to disrupt the feed ingredient industry.
This week, reports out of China suggest the torrential rains that have battered China this year could impact production and transportation. The most concerning is China’s Three Gorges Dam, one of the largest in the world has experienced 3 floods this year. The most recent and largest was this past weekend. Due to the demand for landscaping rock, grit has been difficult to get the last couple of months. We just received 2 truckloads of # 2 grit. So now would be a good time to get it.
