Now is the Time to Sign Up for Free Emergency Alerts!

With the tropics beginning to heat up, have you signed up for Gloucester County Virginia Government's free emergency notification system? The service sends critical communications and emergency information through phone calls, text messages, emails, social media and the CodeRED Mobile Alert app.

Gloucester County Virginia Government and public safety officials will use the system to keep residents informed of local events that may immediately impact the safety of you, your family, and/or business.

Emergency Preparedness Expo a Huge Success!

A special thank you to those who braved Saturday's s rainy weather to help make the County's Hurricane Preparedness Expo a huge success! Also, a special thank you to all who partnered to help make the event possible, including the Gloucester Home Depot Store, which hosted the event.

The Expo provided a wealth of information from the County regarding what one should do to prepare for a storm and also offered plenty of refreshments and activities for children.

Special visitors to the event were members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. with various apparatus as well as the Virginia State Police. Preparedness kits for children to take home and learn how they can play a big part in preparing for emergencies were also distributed.

The number and types of stressors related to heading back to school are unprecedented, as is the mental toll it is taking on adults and youth. As adults, how can we manage the barrage of emotions we’re feeling? How can we support the students in our lives as many are returning to in-person school for the first time in over one year. For others, the new Delta variant and conversations about masking are adding to the stress overload. I this session, Mental Health America of Fauquier County will share strategies we can all use.
