2026 Propane Safety Tip & Recipe Calendar Deadline

August 21, 2025

LPG Charity Fund Tulsa Texas Hold’em Tournament

In Brief

Welcome to this week’s Members-Only Tuesday Telegraph from the Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA).

In the first story of the morning, we share how this year’s signature TPGA event broke records in more ways than one—and how a surprise announcement sparked an immediate and generous response and how you can help.

Secondly, we highlight a rare opportunity for Texas firefighters and propane professionals to train side-by-side at a world-class training facility.

Third, we cover a critical federal program that plays a major role in keeping propane customers warm in the winter— and a further update on its future.

Fourth, we preview an upcoming event that combines great food, friendly competition, and a worthy cause in one afternoon.

And finally, be sure to explore Quick Links for access to the Texas job board and the TPGA store.

2025 Crossroads One for the Records

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2025 Crossroads Propane Expo & Conference over the weekend.

It was one for the record books. 569 attended the 3-day action-packed event, which included 11 training sessions, 13 chartered fishing boats, 81 golfers, a casino party, and an expo with nearly 100 vendors + a silent auction.

The night of the dinner TPGA announced its efforts to raise funds for flood relief and match up to $15,000 for whatever is donated by TPGA members. Within seconds, the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) pledged another $15,000.

Invite Your Firefighters to Propane Emergencies Training This September

After two years, Propane Emergencies Training returns to College Station on September 29–30, 2025.

This 16-hour course, hosted by the Propane Council of Texas (ProCOT), is open to the propane industry, firefighters, and emergency responders at the world’s largest live-fire training field.

Department of Defense firefighters and responders from around the world train here—yet Texas firefighters, it's in their own backyard. Thanks to a PHMSA grant secured by NPGA in cooperation with ProCOT and support from PERC, attendees can train at a fraction of the usual cost. Plus, firefighter tuition is reimbursable through the Texas Forest Service.

Don't miss this opportunity to invite your local departments, engage with emergency responders, and get lessons learned from past propane incidents.

Registration deadline is September 11, 2025.

Heating Help in the Crosshairs:

NPGA Pushes to Protect LIHEAP

The National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) is closely monitoring the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) as Congress moves forward with federal budget appropriations. This $4 billion program, administered by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) through block grants to states, helps low-income households pay their energy bills. LIHEAP is especially critical heading into the winter heating season, with roughly 5% of all residential propane gallons nationwide funded through the program—though reliance varies by region.

Current Concerns:

  • LIHEAP has enjoyed bipartisan support since 1981
  • This year, the White House recommended eliminating funding for the program
  • HHS placed all LIHEAP program staff on administrative leave
  • While Congress—not the White House—decides funding, staffing shortages at HHS could delay distribution of funds to states and eligible entities

NPGA’s Actions:

  • LIHEAP was one of two major issues highlighted during Propane Days in 320+ meetings on Capitol Hill
  • NPGA is working with a broad coalition of energy-sector stakeholders to push for continued funding and smooth program administration
  • Anticipates bipartisan support in Congress to maintain LIHEAP funding
