Welcome back, Carondelet students and families! It was so good to have our halls, classrooms, and outside spaces filled with smiling faces, happy voices, and warm welcome of friends both new and returning. The upcoming year brings the promise of exploring interests, building social connections, intellectual growth, and nurturing faith. The energy of this past week is evidence that our community is ready and excited to get started!
We have many events this week to welcome our students back to school that I’d like to highlight. Last Friday we brought back the tradition of a Frosh Mixer after school where Carondelet and De La Salle freshmen participated in ice breakers and fun games. This weekend, we continue with the Frosh Family Social held today on campus where incoming freshmen and their families will meet each other, share a meal, and celebrate the start of their high school career. The Associated Student Body leaders have planned a Welcome Week with the theme “We Got the Beat.” The week is filled with lots of fun, music themed lunchtime activities and dress up days culminating in our first school rally on Friday and Welcome Back dances on Saturday (9th and 10 grades at Carondelet and 11th and 12th grades at De La Salle).
Looking ahead a little further, we are celebrating our Welcome to the Sisterhood liturgy on Wednesday, 8/24. This eucharistic mass is an important and meaningful tradition where our community comes together around the Lord’s table to share our faith, build community, and welcome our freshmen class. Seniors present each freshman with a Sisterhood bracelet, a physical symbol of our community.
So, welcome back everyone, and a special welcome to those new to our Carondelet Community!
Blessings,
VP of Student Life

Traffic & Parking Reminders
Our student drop-off area is near the gravel lot next to the chapel and gym. Parents/Guardians will be directed to continue driving past the main academic building and faculty parking lot, turn left to pass the Convent and Chapel, and to the drop-off area. Drivers should pull forward into the drop-off zone and have students exit their vehicle there, marked in green. In the afternoons, parents/guardians are welcome to park in any open space in our lot or queue up in the drop-off zone.
Pro Tip: Traffic is the most congested 10 minutes before the morning bell and 10 minutes after the afternoon bell. Coordinating with your student to drop-off and pick-up outside of these times will help make moving through our lot easier. Do not park in the neighborhood to pick up your student.
We love spirit weeks! All students and staff members are encouraged to dress to theme during Welcome Week. However, all student attire must still follow our basic dress code guidelines. Skirts and shorts must be mid-thigh or longer, pants must be free from holes/rips, tops must have short or long sleeves, and shoes must be closed toed.
Attendance Reminders
All absences must be communicated as soon as possible. Please notify the Attendance Coordinator by:
To make things as efficient as possible please include either: Out All Day, Early Release, or Tardy in the subject line of your email.

Monday, August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, a special day to give thanks and praise for Mary’s grace-filled and blessed life. It is a day set aside by the church to honor Mary for her service to God and our world. This year, the feast day is not a holy day of obligation because it falls on a Saturday or a Monday, so the obligation to attend mass is lifted. Although Carondelet and De La Salle will not have school-wide liturgies scheduled for Monday, families are encouraged to seek out Daily Mass opportunities in their home parishes. A directory of all parishes and mass times in the Diocese of Oakland can be found here.
While schoolwide mass will not be celebrated, our community is invited to celebrate Mary, who is one of our own- human in every way; a woman who, through her openness and trust in God, enabled God’s will to be fulfilled in the most extraordinary way. Mary is more than a model of womanhood, she is our hope and our promise of what God can do in our own lives if we only trust and believe.
We look forward to celebrating our first schoolwide liturgy on August 24!
