Board of Supervisors Meeting Highlights from August 11th
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, August 11, with a full agenda covering transportation, affordable housing, emergency preparedness, and community services and projects affecting District 2.
The Board received an update from BART and recognized August as National Emergency Management Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of preparing households and communities for emergencies. The Board also recognized National Breastfeeding Month and World and Black Breastfeeding Weeks.

Contra Costa County Office of Emergency Services Manager Rick Kovar addressed the Board of Supervisors, highlighting the County’s ongoing work to strengthen emergency preparedness, coordination and response.
Kovar emphasized the importance of planning, training and partnerships to ensure Contra Costa County is ready to respond effectively when emergencies occur.

A Little Fun in the Board Chambers on
National City Hall Selfie Day
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors took a quick break from County business Tuesday to have a little fun in honor of National City Hall Selfie Day.
Joining the Board for the photo were members of the County’s leadership team, including County Administrator Monica Nino, County Counsel Thomas Geiger, and Clerk of the Board Jami Morritt.
It was a fun moment in the Board Chambers and a great reminder that even on a busy Board day, there’s always time for a smile!

Contra Costa County TRUTH Act Community Forum
The Contra Costa County TRUTH Act Community Forum to
discuss civil immigration enforcement activities in Contra Costa County is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25th at 10 AM, during the regular Board of Supervisors meeting.
The forum will present Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office 2025 data on responses to ICE Requests for Notification for serious and/or violent offenders currently in custody, in compliance with state law.
The annual forum has been held since 2017 in accordance with California's Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (TRUTH) Act, which requires local jurisdictions to hold a public forum and report on certain interactions with federal immigration authorities.

Contra Costa County Public Works to Perform
Pavement Repair Work in Danville
Contra Costa County Public Works will perform pavement repair work on Diablo Road between Avenida Nueva and Creekledge Court (Work Zone 1) and on Blackhawk Road between Magee Ranch Road and east of Oakridge Lane (Work Zone 2), starting Monday, August 24, 2026,through Thursday, September 10, 2026, barring unforeseen circumstances.
The work will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays), weather permitting. Message boards will be posted to alert drivers to the work. Traffic control measures will be used. A pilot car will safely direct vehicles through the work area. Road users may experience delays of 10-15 minutes.

Traffic Delays Expected on Diablo Road Through October 15th
Drivers traveling through the Diablo and Blackhawk area should plan for extra travel time as construction continues on the Town of Danville's Diablo Road Multi-Use Trail Project.
Daytime lane closures between Fairway Drive and Alameda Diablo will create significant delays, especially during weekday morning and afternoon commutes and school drop-off and pick-up times.
Once completed later this year, the project will provide the final trail connection between the Barbara Hale Trail and Mount Diablo State Park. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time or use alternate routes when possible.

A Visit from Former District 2 Intern Dylan Reyes
It was great to welcome former District 2 intern Dylan Reyes back to the office for a visit! Dylan stopped by to catch up with Supervisor Andersen and share what he has been working on, as well as his experiences at Stanford.
Dylan interned with Supervisor Andersen through the APAPA Summer Internship Program and made quite an impression during his time with our office, including his work on the County’s Filipino American History Month recognition.
We always love hearing from our former interns and seeing where their next chapter takes them. It was wonderful catching up with Dylan and hearing about all he has been doing.

Building on the success of its inaugural year, raising more than $117,000 for 87 local nonprofits, Three Valleys Community Foundation is excited to launch the second annual 925 GIVES, a regional giving movement that celebrates generosity and supports nonprofits serving communities throughout the 925 region.
The campaign culminates in a 24-hour online giving event on Friday, September 25, 2026, with an expanded giving window from August 15 through September 30 so donors have even more opportunities to give where they live.

Contra Costa County is pleased to announce the launch of the Art on County-Owned Utility Box Program. This program is designed to bring vibrant, colorful artwork to the County streetscape by transforming 90 county-owned utility boxes located throughout the unincorporated areas of the County into stunning pieces of visual art.
By showcasing creative designs from talented local artists, we can enhance the visual appeal of our neighborhoods and foster a sense of pride and connection throughout the County.

The Board of Supervisors has hired a consultant to gather input from residents about community priorities for any future Measure X funding that may become available.
Federal and State funding cuts may affect the County's ability to maintain current services, making your input more important than ever.

Funding Opportunity for Community-Based Organizations
Contra Costa County's Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ) has released Request for Proposals (RFP) #255 seeking community-based organizations to provide services through the Federal D. Glover Community Wellness Network. The County anticipates awarding up to $1.25 million annually to expand culturally responsive programs supporting behavioral health, family and maternal health, housing navigation, reentry services, preventive health care, and public benefits navigation.
Proposals are due September 4th by 5 PM. Interested organizations should plan on attending the virtual bidders' information sessions, which are offered on August 12th and August 18th.

Juvenile Justice Reentry & Prevention Services
RFP Now Open
The Probation Department has funding available for Juvenile Justice Reentry Programs and Prevention Programs. To apply for these funding opportunities, please click BidNet to learn more on how to register, review the RFP's available, and submit bids.
The Juvenile Justice Reentry Programs are intended to provide reentry services to Probation youth ages 15-21 for a three-year contract period. Funding awards under this RFP will be allocated by priority regions to be served (1) West County ($300,000), (2) Central and East County ($600,00), and (3) high need/high risk youth countywide ($1,200,000).
The Juvenile Justice Prevention Programs are intended to implement or expand effective strategies for preventing or reducing juvenile crime through services designed to support non-justice system-involved youth, youth at-risk of system involvement, and/or youth with limited system exposure. Funding awards under this RFP, totaling $1,500,000, will be allocated to multiple projects over a three (3) year period.

Alamo-Lafayette Cemetery District

Expiring Seat - An Independent California Special District, the Board of Trustees operates the Cemetery District, according to California law (Health and Safety Code). The District includes parts of Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville, and Diablo. The Board is made up of three trustees, who serve 4-year terms. Trustees must reside within the district.

District 2 Seat Expiring - Reviews the County's ambulance and other emergency services as required in State law; and serves in an advisory capacity to the County Board of Supervisors, and to the County EMS Agency, on matters relating to emergency medical services.
Behavioral Health Board
Supervisor Andersen is seeking applicants from District 2 for seats on the Contra Costa County Behavioral Health Board. The Board advises the County on mental health and substance use services, reviews programs and policies, promotes community involvement, and provides recommendations to improve the local behavioral health system.
