SNO-CONE SUNDAY
This Sunday is our August Sno-Cone Sunday! Purchase one of our cold and refreshing treats on the patio after services for just $1. Children's Ministry sponsors this monthly fundraiser to help build our second clean water well in Liberia.
RECOGNITION
Join us this Sunday as we celebrate the service of Jackie Miller and Kurt Hegland. Jackie has stepped down as the Director of the Cherub Choir and Kurt has retired from his Maintenance position. We will hold a cake reception BETWEEN services (from 10:00-10:30) in appreciation of their service.
TAIZE SERVICE
We hold a Taize Prayer Service this Sunday, August 18, at 5:00pm in the Adult Room. Gathered in the presence of Christ, this is a time of meditative common prayer. During the service, we sing uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become known through the beauty of simplicity and helping us to go deeper into prayer.
FAMILY PROMISE
Thank you to all who have volunteered time and/or resources during Family Promise. Thank you in advance to the faithful volunteers who do the laundry at the end of the week. There will be bags on the patio on Sunday. We have hosted 6 families (24 people) so far, ranging in age from 11 months to 17 years. As of today, three families have transitioned out. One mother has had interviews daily. The families enjoyed entertainment provided by Patricia Lamb and her friend on Wednesday evening, and look forward to water play at the church on Friday evening and movies at the Pollack Theater on Saturday. We host again the week of December 15.
REV. L. MICHAEL KELLEY SUNDAY
Join us for one combined music-filled service at 10:00am on Sunday, August 25th as we celebrate the Rev. L. Michael Kelley’s 37+ years as the leader of our music ministry. There will be a reception for Michael and Michelle in the Fellowship Hall following the service.

GUN VIOLENCE
In light of recent events, the discussion of ways to reduce gun violence continues:
  • If you missed it, you can watch Pastor Jeff's message on gun violence from Sunday, August 4.
  • You can contact Senator Mitch McConnell at (202) 224-2541 to bring the pending bi-partisan legislation on gun control to the floor of the Senate.
  • Read a letter from Bishop Bob Hoshibata to Senator McConnell.
  • Attend a Moms Demand Action meeting. There is a Recess Rally this Sunday, August 18, at 4:00 at the Church of the Beatitudes in Phoenix (wear red!). The next monthly meeting at Dayspring is at 6:30pm on September 3.
