Perhaps your employer, school, or civic organization recently has increased advocacy for diversity, equity, inclusion -- DEI. The NACCC Racial Justice Task Team embraces diversity by carrying out the 2020 Cadman Resolution to “acknowledge and address the current global issue of racism and social justice.” Decision-making processes around awards, grants, and scholarships embody equity because committee members apply pre-determined criteria when reviewing applications. The Nominating Committee strives for inclusion by seeking variety in age, race, gender, church size, skill set, and geography. Some DEI proponents embrace a fourth aim: belonging. According to the Psalmist, we are “known by God.” Belonging happens when we are known by one another. Many of us find this extraordinary awareness within the National Association. Are there untapped ways we can add to the abundance of belonging?
