Farmers and Bankers Brewing in Woodstown hosted Chamber Members for our August Business After Hours Networking event.
Over 40 Members attended and were able to try flights of their specialty brews, seltzers and frozen hard lemonade.
Owners Rebecca & Mike Melniczuk provided facility tours and excellent service. Great to see so many come out.

The Chamber's Government Relations & Economic Development Committee recently drafted a letter of support for Salem County's newest industry, our Breweries.
The letter was sent to Governor Murphy, offering suggestions of how NJ can modify the current stringent and business killing rules for Breweries.

August 20 - Salem Tomato Festival 11am - 3pm
|
The Salem Tomato Festival is back and being held on August 20th, 2022. The festival will be on Market Street in Salem from 11am to 3pm. This year’s event will feature live music sponsored by PSEG Nuclear LLC, local vendors, local non-profits, tomato toss, food trucks, antique cars, all ages art contests, tomato contests, historical reenactors, a historical talk on Salem County Women and the Anti-Slavery Movement, and a groundbreaking for the new Amy “Hetty” Reckless Community Center in Salem.
Many Salem restaurants will have tomato specials and local shops will be open that day as well.
If you grow your own tomatoes and think you have one that may be the heaviest, largest in diameter, prettiest or ugliest, feel free to bring the tomato to the event. Entries accepted until noon that day.
The art contest is put on by the Salem Art League and contest entries should reflect the tomato OR the agricultural industry in Salem County, including some aspect of farming and or a vegetable still life. Artists may enter up to 3 pieces & 2D work only. Entries must be framed, wired, and ready to hang. There are 4 divisions – 12 & under, 13-18, adult photography and adult fine art. Entries accepted at Parker’s Jewelers from August 16th-19th 9am-5pm or at the Old Salem Courthouse from 3pm-5:30pm on the 19th. Art will be displayed in the Old Salem Courthouse on the day of the event.

At 3pm, as a companion to the Tomato Festival, Music Around the County is hosting America's premier 19th century brass band the Saxton’s Cornet Band at St. John’s Episcopal Church - 76 Market Street, Salem.
Rain date for the event is 8/27. Please look for updates on the Stand Up For Salem Facebook page if the weather is iffy.

To help celebrate the Tomato Festival in Salem, Music Around the County is hosting the Saxton Cornet Band at 3 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Salem.
The Saxton Cornet Band recreates the sounds, appearance, and conduct of brass bands during the Victorian Era from the Civil War to the turn of the century. The program will be full of energy and very entertaining both musically and visually. The performance is a complete historically accurate concert experience from the mid-to-late nineteenth century, complete with dramatic readings and period humor in addition to the excellent music.

Fall Open Houses, Workshops, and Glass Sales!
Salem Community College (SCC) welcomes the public to the Jones Glass Education Center this fall for our open houses, hands-on glass workshops, and glass sales! Events have been scheduled for September 18, October 15 and 16, November 20, and December 11! Details for each event can be found on our website at www.salemcc.edu/glass/experience.
Admission is free to the Glass Education Center and the sale. While visiting the center, guests may tour the studio, and see glassmaking in action! Our fall glass sales will feature handmade glass created by the center's talented students! Items available include pumpkins, flowers, jewelry, vases, paperweights, ornaments, and other handmade glass gift items.
Additionally, the glass center will be running hands-on workshops on these dates. Workshops include projects in glassblowing, flameworking, and glass fusing. No glass experience is necessary to participate, but please note minimum age requirements. Registration for our fall workshops can be found on our website at www.salemcc.edu/glass/experience.
Join us on October 15 and 16 for "Salem County Arts in Bloom"! We will be offering a free "Dig Into Art" project on this fun filled weekend! Details about this fun activity are available online.

October 8 & 9 19th Annual South Jersey Pumpkin Show

The 19th annual South Jersey Pumpkin festival returns to the Salem County Fairgrounds on October 8-9, 2022, 735 Harding Hwy, New Jersey. Families are invited to attend in support of small and local businesses.
The South Jersey Pumpkin Show has become one of the best ways to welcome the autumn harvest with kids and parents alike. Festival goers visiting will enjoy pumpkin desserts, over 150 vendor booths, Fall Home Show, fun contests, give-a-ways, wine sampling, food court, Amusement Rides, Fun Haunted Barn, pony rides and hayrides around the fairgrounds. The festival will host a variety of live musical acts daily. The giant Pumpkin Pyramid, filled with pumpkins, and mums, represents everything beautiful about the fall harvest. Each year dozens of the participating vendors compete for prizes for the best Fall Scarecrows. Visiting festival goers are invited to help pick the winners.
Saturday activities includes the Adults Pumpkin Toss and the Pumpkin Dessert Contest with free sampling. Saturday will showcase a reading of the legend of Sleepy Hollow and the arrival of the Headless Horsemen at the graveyard. The Halloween Costume Contest & Trick or Treat Stroll for kids ages 4-10 begins at 6pm.
Sunday events will start with the All-Breed Fun Dog Show at noon & Little Miss Pumpkin Show Queen Pageant at 2pm. Come search for one of our Halloween Painted Rocks and win amazing prizes. The Salem County Fairgrounds is located just a few miles from Delaware Memorial Bridge. Admissions is free, parking $5.00 a carload. Portion of proceeds to benefit a Salem County nonprofit group.
