Dear BTI Students, Faculty, and Community,

Welcome back! We are looking forward to beginning another exciting semester with all of you here in the Greater Boston Area. While courses have not begun at any of our member schools just yet, we thought now might be an excellent time to send out a few reminders.

Cross-Registration is still open at all 10 of our member schools. If you are still contemplating your Fall 2021 schedule, make sure to check out our Course Catalog soon! Most schools' last day to add a class is in early September with the Drop date following a few weeks later. Please remember that you must abide by the earlier of the two Add/Drop dates when looking at deadlines for your Home and Host schools. You can see a full outline of school Add/Drop dates here.

Additionally, we have received a few emails in response to our recent announcement regarding Boston Islamic Seminary. We are thrilled to welcome BIS as an associate member of the Consortium, but unfortunately we are not able to offer their courses for Cross-Registration yet. BIS is in the process of applying for full accreditation, and after they finish that process, we look forward to being able to offer their courses as part of our Cross-Registration catalog. In the meantime, students and interested community members are encouraged to look into Boston Islamic Seminary's community workshops and auditing opportunities.

Credentials: If you registered for a course for the 2021 Fall semester, you should receive an email from your host institution with information about obtaining your credentials for learning platforms (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, Schoology, etc.) very soon. Make sure to follow up with your host school's registrar at least a week before your first class to ensure that you will be able access your class site. See the full list of school registrars here.

Covid-19 Vaccinations: Each member school has created a Covid response plan for the Fall semester. Some are requiring proof of vaccination, others are requiring vaccines but relying on the honors system, and others are not requiring vaccination. All cross-registered students will be required to abide by their home and host school's vaccination policies. Many schools will send out emails with directions for verifying your vaccination status prior to your first class on campus. To find out more about your schools' Covid response plan, check their websites or email the schools' registrars. We will publish a full list of vaccine requirements for all 10 of our member schools as soon as possible.

Finally, a friendly reminder to those who are awaiting registration confirmation emails from Harvard Divinity School. HDS utilizes a course "shopping week" the first week of each semester in which students have the opportunity to visit classes before registering. Therefore, HDS usually does not confirm or deny cross-registration requests until the week before or the week of the first week of classes. Please plan to attend your first class and be patient!

Dr. Edwards and I are excited for another fantastic semester in the BTI Consortium. We have some new, highly requested offerings coming this Fall including networking events, "how-to cross register" webinars, and informational sessions about the BTI. Our first "Get to Know the BTI" event is coming up on September 2nd! We hope you will join us for one or more of our events!

Join us for our first BTI info session! If you've ever wanted to know more about what the BTI does, our programs, member schools, or the many opportunities we offer, consider joining us for this one hour virtual event! We will talk about our certificates, cross-registration, conference funding, networking opportunities, and more! This event is also great for new students! So, if you know a first year student in one of our BTI member schools, invite them to Get to Know the BTI!

Call for Collaborators and Organizers: Disability Theology BTI Student Conference
The BTI Consortium is supporting a student-led conference on the topic of disability theology. If this topic interests you and you would like to join the planning and organizing committee please send an email to with a short explanation of your interest in disability theology and why you want to join the conference committee. Please also include a resume. We look forward to hearing from you!

Want to Publicize your event through the BTI?
There are currently no external upcoming events on our Consortium calendar, but we know events will come streaming in very soon as the Fall semester kicks off! Do you have an event coming up that might be of interest to the BTI Consortium community? We take event submissions from public university calendars, student groups, religious groups, and others. We also publicize calls for papers, writing opportunities, and relevant job openings that may interest our community!

Submissions are due by noon on the Fridays to Please include an informational blurb, a link to the event or contact information, and a desired graphic or logo (if applicable). We recommend submitting info at least 2 weeks in advance of your event.
