Summer Services June-August
Our Summer Worship Leader
Jaimie Dingus, M.Div.
Sunday Services | 10am
Join us for our more relaxed summer services in the air-conditioned Parish Hall. With a few exceptions, the services will be led by our Summer Ministerial Intern, Jaimie Dingus. Jaimie is a recent graduate of Harvard Divinity School and has recently spent two years as the ministerial intern in Reading, MA. We are thrilled to welcome her and her inspiring perspective. Our wonderful David Collins and Nami Hamada will be providing music for the summer services, with occasional special guests and the choir.
Solidarity Pilgrimage for Immigrant Justice
ECCO Solidarity Pilgrimage for Immigrant Justice
August 19-24, Boston to Dover, 70 Miles
Join members of the UUCGL for the ECCO Solidarity Pilgrimage for Immigrant Justice from August 19th-24th as we march from Boston to Dover. The pilgrimage kicks off with a rally at the JFK Federal Building in Boston at 10am on Monday, August 19 and ends at the Strafford County Immigrant Detention Center in Dover on Saturday, August 24th in the later afternoon. We walk to denounce an immoral immigration system that is dehumanizing Black and Brown people, ripping families apart, and even causing death. Please join us at the rally at either end or for any leg of the walk. Each day of walking will end with an immigration event along the way in Lynn, Danvers, Newburyport, Exeter, Lee, and finally the detention center in Dover. Sign up at bit.ly/eccopilgrimage and donate to support this effort at www.eccoaction.org/donate .
Reminders
Children's RE Program Summer Break
The children's RE program is on Summer Break. This means that we have no formal program until after Labor Day, although keep an eye out for a couple of special Sundays when we'll have a children's program about ethical eating. Although there are no volunteer teachers and staff leading classes during the summer, the nursery will be open for use with some toys, books and activities. Parents/guardians are responsible for watching their children. If you have any questions, contact Mark LaPointe , DCLL.
H A W C - When you travel this summer . . .
Don't forget to save hotel/travel-sized toiletries for HAWC. For many years, the UUW has been preparing gift bags every Christmas to donate to " H ealing A buse W orking for C hange" which was founded over 35 years ago. This organization serves 23 cities and towns from Saugus to Cape Ann with local offices in Lynn and Salem. HAWC serves individuals affected by domestic abuse. Its mission is to "support the healing process of abuse and to change social norms and behaviors that perpetrate violence and oppression". They are always very grateful for our church's generosity.
Courtyard/Sanctuary Window Repairs
Our window repairs continue in the sanctuary and the sun-baked courtyard. At various points in the process you may see areas boarded up, and we want to remind everyone that no one should enter the courtyard. It is a construction site and some of our windows are being stored under the tarps. Thank you for your patience!
