VOS ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW OPEN
|
VOS invites practitioners, academicians, and researchers interested in large and small animal species to submit abstracts of novel studies in practical and scientific topics related to veterinary orthopedics and traumatology. Preference will be given to abstracts that have clinical relevance.
Papers addressing results of controlled retrospective and prospective clinical studies are strongly encouraged. Clinician investigators should also consider submitting innovative surgical techniques, or case reports describing unusual or difficult cases as these will be reviewed separate from the scientific abstracts; as will submissions for the Complications and Corrections session.
Visit our
Abstract Submission page to submit your abstract or learn more. Abstract submission closes on November 1.

APPLICATIONS FOR RESEARCH AWARDS DUE OCTOBER 1
|
Don't miss the application deadline for the Hohn-Johnson Research Award and the Wade O. Brinker Resident Research Award.
Applications for the Hohn-Johnson Research Award ($40,000) and the Wade O. Brinker Resident Research Award ($12,000) are due on October 1, 2015. Applications are accepted from those in private practice and academia alike, and offer an excellent opportunity to secure funding for novel, high-quality research. Whereas the Brinker Award is reserved for those in resident training, the Hohn-Johnson award is available to all VOS members, and can be the perfect source of financial support for new investigators.
For guidelines or to see previous projects, please use the links below:
VOS also presents one or more Mark S. Bloomberg Memorial Research Awards each year to residents submitting abstracts for presentation at the VOS Annual Conference. The awards allow the recipients to travel to the meeting to present their work.
Qualified resident abstracts are chosen based on predetermined criteria by a panel of judges. The award(s) are given to help offset the cost of attending the conference to present their research. Awards are provided by the generous funding of the sponsors and are limited.

SPOTLIGHT ON ... EVEROST
|
Location:
Sturbridge, Massachusetts
What year was the company started?
2012, Harry Wotton started his first company in 1997 (Securos).
What products / services does your company offer?
Everost offers ground-breaking implants focusing on bioabsorbable materials and next-generation metallic implants. Board-certified surgeons have mechanically and clinically evaluated our innovative new implant systems. These implants include Xorption TTA, Freedom Lock and Liberty Lock TPLO, EverZip Laterial Suture, AdapTTA TTA, EverVisc Hyaluronic Acid and our EverGraft bone substitute materials.
What should Veterinary Orthopedic Society members know about your company?
Everost is dedicated to advancing science, safety and innovation. Although the company is only 3 years old, the founders (Harry Wotton and Darroll Wotton) have more than a combined 30 years of experience in the design, manufacturing, education and support in veterinary orthopedic surgery (Harry Wotton was the founder, president and solo design engineer at Securos for 15 years). Harry Wotton holds numerous United States and United Kingdom patents for his innovative contributions in veterinary medicine. Everost and their clinical advisors are committed to providing animals with renewed vitality.
Can you explain a challenging situation that your company was able to solve?
After the founders of Everost left the company they founded in 1997 (Securos), they were challenged with re-inventing themselves, as well as creating an entire catalog of new innovative products. During a forced two-year non-compete, the founders of Everost needed to not only innovate but also figure out how to be relevant in a market saturated with orthopedic companies. Through dedication, perseverance and a committed clinical team, Everost has had a very successful three years and the market has welcomed their products with open arms.
Can you tell us about any new products or services your company is developing?
Everost will be expanding its line of bioabsorbable implants to include distal radius plates, TPLO plates, interlocking nails, a variety of specialty plates and trauma plates. There is also a strong focus on a new system for elbows, Plateless TPLO implants, arthroscopy instruments and expanding our line of biologics

VOS ESTABLISHES GUIDELINES FOR STATE OF THE INDUSTRY TALKS
|
The Veterinary Orthopedic Society's State of the Industry talks provide an opportunity for our valued sponsors to share with the membership interesting scientific research, clinical data or information about new treatments, developments, and/or techniques. These should be presentations with scientific merit rather than commercials.
Presentations will be 10 minutes long plus 5 minutes for questions. The time limit will be adhered to strictly. PowerPoint files (or PDFs of these files) must be submitted to the Sponsor Chair (janetvandyke@me.com) 14 days in advance for review by the Chair and the Session Moderator. This ensures suitability and enables time for any necessary revisions. Late submissions may result in loss of the preferred time slot for presentation.
