August 2015  |  Vol. 67, No. 4
The Summer Conference in Las Vegas was a great ('Gatsby') success thanks to Christian Groche, Claudia Hargett, and the ever-so-talented Summer Conference and Technical Committees! It could not have happened without the tremendous support of many. Thank you for your continued participation.

While you're enjoying summer with family and friends, I'm sure it's unimaginable that autumn is just around the corner. And that means a busy agenda for TLARGI, commencing on September 10, with the always well-attended and highly valuable Basic Rubber Technology Course conducted at R.D. Abbott Company in Cerritos, and followed by the Technical Conference, Mini Expo, and Oktoberfest on October 6 at the Phoenix Club. (Don't forget, Board nominations for Officers and Directors will be announced at the October dinner meeting and elections will occur in November.)

It's also worth noting that the ACS Rubber Division's International Elastomer Conference & 188th Technical Meeting will be held October 12-15 at the Cleveland Convention Center in Ohio.

Beyond that, the November Dinner Meeting is slated for November 3 and will shortly be followed by the grand TLARGI event of the year, The Golden Christmas Ball, at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa on Saturday, December 5!

Please mark your calendars accordingly. You won't want to miss any of these events!

VIP Rubber & Plastic Company has acquired AmesburyTruth's non-fenestration custom extrusion division (Bandlock).

Jennifer Warner, customer service representative for VIP Rubber & Plastic Company, married Andrew Gonzales on April 11, 2015, after a 7-year courtship. Andrew popped the question during an Angels' Game (one of their favorite pastimes).

In Memoriam

Connie (Higgins) Parasson passed away on June 28, 2015, after
a four-year battle with cancer, following the passing of Lefty, her husband of 50 years. Although she didn't officially work in the rubber industry, Connie enjoyed lending a helping hand to Parasson Corporation. She was loved by everyone she met because of her bubbly personality. The Parassons married in 1961 in Akron, Ohio, where they remained until 1981 when they moved to Southern California. They had three children, Penny, Patrick, and Dan, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In 1996, when Connie assisted with the Rubber Division Convention in Anaheim, the More Luck Club was formed with four other women in the industry, creating a close bond that would last as long as she lived.
