I hope everyone is having a great summer! I just recently competed in IRONMAN 70.3 Ecuador which took place in Manta. This year was a special time because Manta experienced some devastating earthquakes that took the lives and homes of many. I for sure thought the race would be canceled but the people of Manta worked really hard to make it happen.

There were over 20,000 spectators out on race day cheering so loud. I showed up at the race healthy and ready to defend my title from 2015.  I put together a solid race and I was so happy to cross the line first after a tough first half of the year.

Race travel presents its own challenges. Due to delays, it took me 26 hours to get to Manta. Then on the return trip, I picked up a cold. That resulted in a cancelled trip to race Challenge Finland, which was disappointing but necessary.

I am hoping to take the momentum from Ecuador into my lead up for Beijing International Triathlon where I hope to defend my title there as well! As for now, I will watch my friends compete in Rio and train hard for the next one!
