WSCA President Tony Parker CEC, AAC, ACE
August 2017
Greetings Culinarians and Associates,
I hope that all of you have had either a fun filled summer or a very profitable one. We have had a summer for the record books with no moisture to speak of. Lots of opportunities for camping, hiking, or just staring up at the sun and waiting for the moon to pass. It seemed to go bye much too quickly for me but I am looking forward to getting on with business and to usher in a new class of students at school.
September WSCA Meeting
Our next board and dinner meeting will be at the Woodland Park Zoo hosted by Chef John Clark. It will be September 11th, normal board at 4-6 and tray passed appetizers and dinner to follow.

Elections
It is that time of the year to look at our elections coming up in November and think about running yourself or nominating a fellow WSCA member for a board or cabinet position. This year we are looking for 3 board positions that are up for re-election and the office of the president and secretary. I cannot be elected again because I have finished two terms as your president. We will be looking for nominations at our dinner meeting for these positions. The election will be held at our November Holiday dinner and silent auction. It will be held at the Clearwater Casino on November 14th. That is a Tuesday which is not our normal day but please make sure to take note of the day. That is also our silent auction for the apprenticeship so please see if you can help by donating something to the auction to benefit the apprenticeship program.
National Convention
We sent two apprentices to the National Convention in Florida this summer and will be looking forward to hearing their report on what they learned and experienced there.
Re-accreditation
Our Chapters re-accreditation is this October. A team will be visiting us to look at our program and to speak with some of the apprentice houses while here. I will reach out to some of our membership for any support needed during this time in October.
Educational Segments
With the Governors Inaugural ball this year taking up so much of our time and effort, we did not do any additional educational segments, so we will look at doing an educational segment in January. When we have the information we will send it out to everyone. Thank you to all that helped by filling out the survey that Chef Gary Fuller put together to get your feedback on what you would like to see.
Competitions
We did not do an ACF competition this year but are planning on doing one this upcoming spring with the possibility of a couple mystery box only competitions prior to the main competition. More of this to follow as we get into our meetings.
I hope to see all of you at the Zoo for our dinner meeting.
