California - the 6th largest economy in the world - is on the forefront of cannabis business development, but knowing where and when to invest in the fastest growing industry in the nation can be complicated. Denver Relief Consulting has teamed up with Marijuana Policy Group and McAllister Garfield, P.C. to offer you the California Opportunity Reporta complete guide to the wide variety of cannabis opportunities available throughout California.

The report includes a  detailed overview of all 58 counties and more than 100 local jurisdictions . More than just  state revenue projections, this report contains more than 200 pages of in-depth analysis by some of the nation's leading cannabis operators, attorneys and economists. Content includes state and local level regulatory and opportunity analysis, market expectations, financial drivers, operational best practices, competitive considerations, progressive initiatives, expert advice and more. A free sample report is now available.

Denver Relief Consulting Hosts
Mexican Delegation

Denver Relief Consulting and Marijuana Policy Group (MPG) have been  actively working with Mexican officials this year to educate them on the creation of the regulated market in Colorado, and how it's working today. Mexico recently passed medical cannabis policy reform, and is actively working to develop the framework by which it is regulated. This past week, DRC and MPG  hosted a Mexican delegation in Denver that included  members of Mexico's House of Representatives, the Senate, Cofemer and Cofepris, and others

Over two days, this delegation toured regulated facilities for cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, testing and retail, and met with regulators and lawmakers from the Department of Revenue, Marijuana Enforcement Division, Department of Public Health and Environment, Denver's Mayor Office and City Council, and more. This delegation came away with a firm understanding of Colorado's trials, tribulations and successes  in implementing and maintaining this robust regulatory framework.

The most important first step in developing a medical cannabis regulatory system is sharing our  knowledge with those that will have a hand in shaping it. DRC and MPG have a desire to  f acilitate knowledgeable exchanges so that we can share what we have learned in governing, regulating and ensuring public safety in the world's first legal cannabis market . DRC and MPG have participated in several similar successful efforts with officials from Canada, Jamaica, France, Germany, Columbia and several US States.
Cannabis Industry Supports
US Congressman Jared Polis for Governor of Colorado!
Ean Seeb, Congressman Jared Polis, and Samantha Walsh take time for a pic at Vicente Sederberg's fundraising event August 9th, 2017

If you haven't already heard, Congressman Jared Polis is running for Governor of Colorado, and his campaign is already off and running! One of the most vocal defenders of the cannabis industry in the state legislature, Polis has proven time and again that he's a champion of cannabis policy reform.

"We've had lukewarm leadership at the state level," Polis said, referring to Gov. John Hickenlooper's wincing tolerance and grudging defense of the state's cannabis industry. "For us to take the industry to the next level, we need a real champion in the governor's mansion."

So, it's no surprise that when the law offices of  Vicente Sederberg, LLC threw a fundraiser for  Jared Polis' bid for governor last Wednesday, the cannabis industry came out in force to support. Donations were capped at $100, making it one of the most successful small-donation fundraisers in the state to date.  DRC principals  Nick Hice Kayvan Khalatbari , and  Ean Seeb  were on hand - and more than 150 other supporters from Colorado's cannabis indsutry!

If you missed the event, you can still donate to Polis here. To hear Polis defending our industry for yourself,  check out the video in this article. (Polis begins around the 5 min mark, but it's worth it to watch what comes before. Enjoy!)

Minority Cannabis Business Association Accepting Nominations for Board of Directors

The Minority Cannabis Business Association ("MCBA") is accepting nominations for their 2017-2018 Board of Directors. The term begins November 1st, 2017 and lasts for one year. The MCBA is the first 501(c)(6) not for profit business league created specifically to progress the cannabis industry by increasing diversity. Board members are individuals who are deeply committed to the mission of MCBA, which is to create equal access and economic empowerment for cannabis businesses, their patients and consumers, and the communities most affected by the war on drugs. These elections are a wonderful opportunity to advance your level of participation in MCBA, the cannabis industry, and your community at large. The deadline for nominations is September 5.

This year the MCBA crafted statewide model legislation, supported the introduction of Senator Cory Booker's 'Marijuana Justice Act', and in Portland, Oregon successfully lobbied for the country's first municipal cannabis tax allocation for communities targeted by the war on drugs. We also extended our signature 'Rise Up, Expungement Program' in Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles, which provides guidance and covers the legals fees associated with the expungement of cannabis charges for qualifying individuals. With a business conference and a second policy summit on the horizon, the MCBA is becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Kayvan Khalatbari, MCBA Board Member

You may nominate yourself or someone else for a Director position within the MCBA  using the form available here:  MCBA Board of Directors Nomination Form, on the  MCBA website, or you may email [email protected] for more information.

NACB Sponsors The Clinic Charity Classic Golf Tournament

As representatives of the National Association of Cannabis Businesses (the cannabis industry's first self-regulatory organization), CEO Joshua Laterman and DRC Founding Partner Ean Seeb teamed up with Coda Global to support those who struggle with Multiple Sclerosis at the beautiful Arrowhead Golf Club in Denver, Colorado. Joined by many noteworthy cannabis-related businesses - such as Canyon Cultivation LLC Sweet Leaf Marijuana Centers,  Incredibles  (Medically Correct) Native Roots Colorado OpenVAPE , PAX and  Weedmaps  - the 8th Annual Clinic Charity Classic turned out to be a huge success. Congratulations to  The Clinic Colorado  for hosting such an amazing event. On a day focused on a great cause, so many of the industry's best and brightest found time to discuss our self-regulatory organization with  Joshua Ean , and other members of the NACB team. Learn more about the NACB and the ways the industry's first and only SRO will prepare you to "Be Ready" for the future, by visiting NACB.com. Click here to see more pictures of the event.
National Recognition for the  GREEN TEAM!

Cannabis' progress is not just good for business owners and operators, cities, and states. If implemented conscientiously, it can also be a boon to the communities in which these businesses operate. At DRC we've always believed that. So we're thrilled that CannabisNow took time to recognize the strides the industry is making in our communities

Last year Denver city council made it a requirement that anyone with a cannabis license must include some community engagement component to their business plan, but the GREEN TEAM has been actively seeking ways to give back and engage with the neighborhoods in which their businesses thrive since 2010. Built on a message that the industry can be about more than just making money, the GREEN TEAM has gathered numerous like-minded cannabis companies together to create a force for good in our city that has bucked the stereotypes of the cannabis industry. Where opponents might have seen a "lazy stoner" before, they have been faced with the reality that most industry professionals and cannabis consumers are active, civically engaged, generous  adults with progressive agendas - who aren't afraid to work hard for the kind of city they want to live and work in.

"In the age of corporate cannabis, plenty will find it easy to write a check. But the hands on approach by the folks at Denver Relief Consulting makes them one of the more civically active pot businesses - and not in a 'going to city council meetings just to keep their doors open' kind of way."

The 2017 season is well under way, but if you or your business would like to participate in any of the GREEN TEAM's volunteer events, we welcome helping hands and monetary donations. See our list of upcoming events below, or contact [email protected] for more information. A BIG THANK YOU to all of our 2017 sponsors!
High Times Goes Public
