Back to School Fundraising with Change My Heart
With a new school year right around the corner, it's time to start gearing up for school fundraising! A fun and easy way to raise money for congenital heart defect research in your school or classroom is to participate in our Change My Heart (CMH) program! Your CMH fundraiser can be as easy or creative as you want to make it! Simply place a collection container in your school and let it fill up for a week or a month, or plan fun activities to go along with the fundraiser. Click here for more information about CMH.
You can also use Change My Heart paper icons (pictured right) as a way to fundraise! For a suggested donation amount, people can write their names on paper icons that can be displayed around your school, classroom, or even at local stores and restaurants. If you're interested in utilizing the paper icons for your fundraiser, please contact the CHF national office at .

Another way to participate in CMH is by starting an online fundraiser. Create an individual page or join/create a team, then set a goal and write why you're passionate about raising money for CHD research! Click here to begin setting up a fundraiser. Participating in a Run or Other Event this Fall? Join Team CHF!
Are you participating in a run, walk, or other competition this fall and want to raise money for congenital heart defect (CHD) research? Join Team CHF - an athletic/competition based fundraising program at The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF). It's a nationwide, virtual team that lets you join other CHF supporters to achieve and exceed a $50,000 National fundraising goal!

Joining is easy! Pick an event that you wish to compete in – a local 5K/10K/15K, Half Marathon, Marathon, obstacle course race, book reading competition, etc. – and sign up through the event’s registration. Then start a fundraising page or team through the Team CHF website and share your page with your friends and family to get their support! When it comes to funding CHD research, every dollar is critical in advancing the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs, America's most common birth defect.

Report: "Device aims to help kids born with congenital heart defects, like Jimmy Kimmel's Son"
ABC News recently reported that Dr. Matthew Gillespie of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has been spearheading new medical research that helps children with heart defects, like Billy Kimmel's, avoid surgery by using a new "Harmony Valve," which is now in trials at a few U.S. hospitals. The so-called Harmony Valve is inserted through a catheter and slides into position on the heart, all through a small incision in the groin. "We're really in the midst of what I think is one of the most important breakthroughs in congenital heart disease management," Gillespie said.

CHD Research Saves Lives
Research is the key to life-saving medical advancements that will enable babies born with congenital heart defects (CHDs) to live longer, healthier lives. Our mission is to fund the most promising research to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs.

Because of advancements made through research, death rates in the U.S. from CHDs have declined by 37.5% since 1999. It is our goal to see that number increase and for even more advancements to be made; all of which is only possible through research. Make a donation to help us fund additional research here .
