(GBCI) partnership .   Today, however, I need to share some bittersweet news.  Our Executive Director Maureen Hart will be stepping down from her role in the fall.  (Con't.)

ISSP-NYC Joins Dolphin & Whale Watching Adventure

By Kelly Mumford

On July 28 th, the Greater New York City Chapter hosted a group aboard a New York Harbor whale watching and dolphin adventure cruise.  Exploring the seas just 30 miles off the coast of Rockaway's Breezy Point, the passengers aboard the American Princess Cruises ship saw two humpback whales, over 20 dolphins, and even a sea turtle.  American Princess Cruises uses these expeditions to enumerate and collect data about the whales and other marine life along the NYC coastal waters. Profile: Joseph Tong, ISSP-CSP
Our profile subject this month is Joseph Tong, ISSP-CSP and sustainability manager at Fuji Xerox's Hong Kong office.

Joseph was inspired to become a sustainability professional at a young age, and pursued his dream after graduating college.  "I realized the urgency to take actions and that we are in the right moment to make some impacts," he told us.  "With the international sustainability policies and movements, corporations could find business cases to invest in sustainability initiatives to gain competitive edges."

Read Joseph's story on our  ISSP Member Profiles page .  For more information on the professionals who hold an ISSP credential, be sure check out our credential holder directory.

My First Integrated Report, What I Learned & Why You Should Do One, Too
By Bob Willard, Ph.D, ISSP-CSP, ISSP Sustainability Hall of Fame Inductee

Most company financial and sustainability reports are kept separate.  However, there is a growing demand for one report that integrates all forms of impact.  In 2013, IIRC proposed a framework for Integrated Reporting <IR>, a single analysis reinforcing the interconnections between financial and ESG performance. (Con't.)

August 16th at 11:00am PT / 2:00pm ET

Sustainability leaders struggle with resources to apply to performance improvement.  Getting sustainability strategy integrated with business strategy is imperative.  This means that sustainability improvement projects must be prioritized as integral to Operational Excellence.  This Webinar will demonstrate how sustainability leaders can easily use existing resources, human resources that are already in their organizations, for performance improvement.  With just a few modifications of common performance improvement methods, important strategic sustainability improvements can be achieved without adding staff.  More info/register today!

NOTE: A recording of the session will be made available to all registrants.

Course: SPaRK Sustainability Plan & Reporting Kit
September 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th at 10:00am PT / 1pm ET

Walk through the steps of creating a comprehensive sustainability plan: from justification for your sustainability efforts, through impacts assessment and determination of measures.  The resulting plan also sets you up for reliable and pain free reporting.  At the end of the course you will have a "draft" plan and experience applying each of the key steps of the process.  As part of the class you will be provided a trial version of the SPaRK tool which is an Excel based file that includes the worksheets and data entry tables for recording your key planning decisions.  It also includes a template for recording the results of your sustainability efforts.

Designed for a more interactive experience, the four live webinars are supplemented with videocasts presenting the core concepts so that the live webinars can be used for practice, discussion and Q&A.
