Celebrate 25 years at SPOTLIGHT!

Get ready for 2018 SPOTLIGHT!  There are special Tauber Insitute 25th anniversary events on Thursday, September 13, followed by the annual SPOTLIGHT! Team Project Showcase and Scholarship Competition on Friday, September 14, and the Tauber Tailgate outside the Big House on Saturday, September 15.

Get a preview of the 30 challenging projects that will be the subject of SPOTLIGHT! presentations.  The Tauber Institute was pleased to form partnerships this year with five new team project sponsors: IDEX, Mayo Clinic, Principal Financial, Spacelabs, and Stoneridge.

Tauber alumna Shilpa Maniar (EGL BSE/MSE-IOE '07)  thought she'd attend Michigan for just a year, but her first visit to campus transformed her into a lifelong Wolverine. Now she manages Google America's team for gTech Global Solutions - when she's not busy with her side-gig, TV reporting on topics ranging from Tech to Bollywood!
"Innovation in Action" at Whirlpool

The 2018 Tauber Whirlpool team of Michael London (MBA) and Justin Lee (EGL) was interviewed for a Whirlpool Corporation feature article following their presentation to manufacturing leaders from each of Whirlpool's global regions. The team worked with Whirlpool's Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering department to spread 3D printing technology throughout Whirlpool's plants.

Welcome Meredith Rarey to the IAB!

Cardinal Health Vice President of Global Strategic Sourcing Meredith Rarey joins representatives of 30 of the world's top corporations as a member of the Tauber Industry Advisory Board. In her current role at Cardinal Health, Meredith Rarey has Sourcing responsibility for the Presource kitting division where she manages over $700 Million in spend across 13,000+ sku's. In addition to her degree in Mechanical Engineering, she has earned APICS CPIM, Lean Manager and Master Black Belt certifications.

IOE Associate Professor and Tauber Advisor Mariel Lavieri applies operations research to healthcare topics, developing dynamic programming, stochastic control, and state space models to guide treatment decisions for chronic disease patients. Her most recent awards include the 2017 Willie Hobbs Moore Aspire, Advance, Achieve Mentoring Award and the 2016 NSF CAREER Award.

Tauber student Michael Barnes (MBA) and his teammate Rahul Hingorani (EGL) spent their summer working on the intriguing challenges of Microsoft's cloud-first, modern transformation. But their team project experience was shaped just as much by the person-to-person contacts they made as by the technical skills they learned.
