Links to Learning

Mid Coast Connect recently completed the Links to Learning program at Hastings Secondary College - Westport Campus.
This semester Cameron from  Recycle Bicycle provided his knowledge and skills to teach a group of young men how to repair and maintain their bikes and scooters. During the process Cameron and the students focused on recycling a Dragster and after completion, the bike was donated to  Willing & Able Foundation Ltd .

End of the program was celebrated with pizza, certificates and intense games of UNO!
Traineeship & Apprenticeship Information Sessions
Mid Coast Connect are running information sessions for jobseekers, employers, students, parents and teachers.

These sessions are a great opportunity to speak with our experienced staff to answer questions such as:

What is the process of employing an apprentice or trainee?
I am a student, what do I need to begin?
Can I do an apprenticeship or traineeship and still be at school?

Thank you to Margaret from Designer Living Kitchens who provided great insights and discussed the benefits of employing apprentices in her business.

The 2018 Port Macquarie-Hastings Skills Audit Summary Report is now available.

The audit assesses the region's current and future skills needs. The project was enabled by a co-funded grant arrangement between Port Macquarie-Hastings Council and the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development under the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Project/Community Investment scheme.

A high level of stakeholder engagement was undertaken to gain an insight into current skills gaps and future trends. The Skills Audit provides valuable data and information for business, industry, education and government sectors while assisting workers of the future to align their skills with growth sectors.
