SANDY'S SPOTLIGHT
Beginning this month, Sandy will be featuring an item that we have for sale in the store and writing a review so you can better determine if this is something you would like to add to your sewing room. This month's product is the RELIABLE OVO 150GT Travel Iron and Garment Steamer .

"This handy little item fits right in your palm for ease of use. It is perfect for travel needs as it is a great steamer, both flat on the ironing board or upright for a hanging item. I used it on my husbands suit jacket to get the wrinkle out of the lapel. PRESTO! Gone! It only takes one minute for it to heat up, you can use tap water and it doesn't drip!! I made the Hoopsisters Mystery Quilt and used it to flatten the edge of the the wool batting as well as to press the seams. Worked like a charm. I would highly recommend this item. It has a 6 foot electric cord, comes with a heat resistant pad built into the carrying case and included are a lint brush and clothing brush. You will like the ceramic soleplate too. One warning....it does have a small stand that folds up when not in use. I would recommend only using the stand on a very sturdy surface. My ironing board was a bit too padded and wobbly to keep it sitting upright. If you use the heat resistant pad that comes with it you should find that it won't inadvertently come crashing down when bumping your ironing board. This is a great iron boasting an output of 1180 watts and will be a great companion when traveling as well as when you go to sewing classes! I have several small irons, but THIS one beats them all. It gets HOT and puts out a lot of steam. It is a keeper in my book! Stop by the store and see for yourself!"
Just what can you do with this echo foot, you ask? You will love using this foot for echo and shadow quilting, free-motion quilting, thread painting and free-motion embroidery. This foot has concentric circular markings and crosshair for precise positioning. It also provides excellent results when used with your cutwork designs. Both 5.5 mm and 9 mm sizes available. With this foot you will be able to do some thread painting with your zigzag stitch! Come and get yours today and let's get creative!
POPPY PLAY! If you own a Bernina 790 or 880 you will want to get signed up for this technique class! You will learn a ton! Of course you don't have to make a poppy quilt....you might want to choose other colors or flowers. Contact Natalie for particulars! click here for more information and to get signed up. This will be taught by Sheryl and Natalie. Coming this September! Check out the schedule above for more details.
TIP OF THE MONTH
How is your garden growing? Some of you may love your garden almost as much as your sewing, so here is a thought for using some of your scrap fabrics in your garden. Flowers drooping? Peas, beans, vines, sagging a bit? Use long strips of fabric to tie up your flowers and vegetable plants. Not only is it a help to your plants, you will bring a splash of color to your garden!
Don't forget to sign up for Kimberbell Embroidery Classes! Check out the schedule above!
