SoCalGas
New Web-Based Application Makes Applying for Energy Efficiency Rebates Easier and Faster
SoCalGas announced the company is now offering $75 rebates for residential customers who purchase eligible ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostats that help residents manage their heating and cooling costs and conserve energy. The rebates, which have increased from $50, cover models from Nest, ecobee and Honeywell, and others, and are available through Dec. 15, 2018. To help customers take advantage of the opportunity, the utility also launched a new web-based application form, available at socalgas.com/rebate-app, that streamlines the application process, allowing customers to receive the rebate more quickly. In addition to SoCalGas' rebate, utility customers can apply for a smart thermostat rebate through their electric provider for a combined savings of up to $150.

How to Maximize Your Fan's Efficiency
Check out these creative and easy ways to stay cool this summer using your fan and save energy:
- 1.Turn off when not in use: Remember that fans cool people, not rooms, so be sure to turn it off when you're not occupying the room to help save energy.
- Counterclockwise direction: During warmer months, your ceiling fan should be turning in the counterclockwise direction which will help circulate the air downward. That means that if you're standing directly underneath the ceiling fan, you should feel a cool breeze caused by a "wind-chill" effect, which makes you feel cooler. This is the same feeling you'd get if you stuck your head out of a moving car.

Los Angeles Department of Water & Power (LADWP)
AC Optimization Program
LADWP offers the AC Optimization program to residential and commercial customers to help them save on their cooling costs. Without proper maintenance, heating and cooling systems may not operate at optimal levels. These conditions can cause significant energy waste, especially during the hot summer months when cooling systems are used for longer periods.

Metro is set to receive about $1.8 billion in state funds that are heavily dependent on SB-1 to help build a variety of road and transit projects, including the Gold Line extension to Claremont and Montclair, the Orange Line Improvements Project, the West Santa Ana Branch Corridor and the Green Line Extension to Torrance.
