CFM Hosts Community Conversation around Civic Equity at the Museum of Mississippi History
The Community Foundation for Mississippi believes it is essential, in this time and place, to help Jackson find its civic voice for aspiration , for meaningful change, to begin to build solutions that work for everyone. Working with the Harwood Institute, CFM identified a group to interview and convene as a first step toward building this community conversation. Thanks to our partner, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, we will be continuing this effort this Fall and Spring. Stay tuned!
"We want Jackson to have a can-do spirit, opposed to a can't do spirit ... We have to work together to help build capacity of the people in the city and broaden our understanding of belonging."

Palmer Home for Children Opens New Endowment Fund

Palmer Home for Children was recently awarded a $5,000 Nonprofit Endowment Grant to seed an endowment fund at the Community Foundation for Mississippi. The Palmer Home for Children Fund will secure gifts toward an investment goal of $50,000 over the next three years.

Palmer Home for Children is a privately-funded, nonprofit organization that has provided superior care to vulnerable children for 125 years. Palmer Home provides campus care, foster care, family care, and transitional care to meet the specific needs of each child and family.

“The work of Palmer Home for Children has never been more important as we watch needs emerge and evolve in this community,” said Jane Alexander, President and CEO of CFM. “The Community Foundation is honored to connect generosity with need through endowment funds and other avenues, but we couldn’t have an impact without the array of quality nonprofits offering solutions to our community’s needs and vital services to our neighbors.”

“For 25 years, the Community Foundation for Mississippi has provided critical support for nonprofit organizations of all sizes which contribute to the vibrancy of their communities and our stage,” said Alexander. “This endowment grant will help Palmer Home grow the financial resources it needs to serve their community and constituents forever.”

“This is an important endowment for Palmer Home and the state of Mississippi,” said Drake Bassett, President and CEO of Palmer Home for Children. “Each dollar represents the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child. This fund will allow us to plan for the future and know that our mission will be sustained.”

An endowment is a permanent, self-sustaining funding source that provides financial support to nonprofits and causes for operations, facility needs, and programs. Contact us for more information about the Palmer Home for Children Fund.
