AUGUST 2019 NEWSLETTER
A NOTE FROM LYNNE
The unstructured time of summer offers opportunities to make memories for your family. While day camps, road trips, and big adventures are thrilling and fun, I’m betting that your best childhood memories are focused around the still times with less activity. My favorite childhood memories from summer are root beer popsicles, staying up late to look at the stars, and watching TV reruns on hot summer days with my sisters and the neighborhood kids.

Having some down time to rest, relax, renew relationships, and dream new dreams are the important tasks of summer. I’m hoping you have plenty of time for that with your families!

Warmly,

Lynne Mender (formerly Swartz)
Executive Director

Joining the organization as a volunteer, she became be the primary parenting educator for Parenting Now!’s most at-risk families, including pregnant and parenting teens. DEVELOPMENT UPDATES
We are so grateful for the support we received this spring and summer.Thank you for showing up and demonstrating how much you care about the work we do.
In June, Parenting Now! staff and guests enjoyed our annual Family Matters breakfast. Bringing our work to life, we shared stories of families who have been touched by Parenting Now!. Our keynote speaker, Dr. Gustavo Balderas, Superintendent of Eugene School District 4J, discussed the opportunity gap for families in Lane County and how investing in parenting education can make tremendous impacts for children and our community’s shared future.
By showing up, you have helped raise critical support for our programs, which rewrites families’ stories by giving them the skills, networks, and supports they need to thrive.
As you get ready for the coming fall and school season, you can give back to Parenting Now! by shopping at Amazon and local grocery stores!
