Allied Arts of Whatcom County’s 2019 Gallery Series welcomes back WACK, Whatcom’s Artists of Clay and Kiln. WACK is a non-profit organization dedicated to ceramic artists from Whatcom County with a passion for creative expression with clay. We are excited to present this exhibit, honoring clay’s malleable shapes and forms. The theme for this year’s show is “Set the Table.” The Bellingham Youth Jazz Band will also be performing outside the gallery during Art Walk.

Set the Table will run from August 2 - 31. The Allied Arts Gallery is dedicated to providing a professional space for local artists of every background and experience level to present and sell their work, supporting the arts and artists of our community. Using the Art Market model, we are renting 8 ft spaces to artists who want to show in the gallery. The cost is $70.00 per month Plus 25% commission on the sales. You can share this space with someone you know whose art is compatible with yours. Important note: There are no shifts required. The gallery will be open at least five days per week. We want to hear what you envision for our cultural future, so please join us at this year's Cultural Congress; October 21-23, in Toppenish, Washington. This year, we promise another fun and meaningful conference while engaging you in powerful and inspiring work. This year, we've chosen a potent conference theme:  Forging our Cultural Future.  

Washington is booming with new residents and businesses. Though much of this growth and abundance has been fueled by the vitality of our cultural sector, many of us feel that our community has been left behind. Public and corporate support is shrinking, and many Washingtonians don’t understand the value, nor the opportunity, of cultural work. It’s time for us to rally, strategize and be bold. A unified coalition and a strategic agenda focused on securing new resources, recruiting political champions, communicating our value, and forming vital alliances can transform our current state of scarcity into sustainable cultural prosperity. 

With the critical mass of our cultural state, we will launch conversations about statewide planning. What do we want our cultural sector to be in the future? How will our impact transform our communities? What are we capable of accomplishing together?

People of all skill levels, from artists to budding artists to people who just want to have fun, are encouraged to participate. The purpose of the event is to revive a beloved festival, provide a fun activity for individuals and families, and to enrich the Bellingham area with local art. This is a not for profit festival. The only cost to participants is to purchase a chalk kit unless they bring their own non-toxic chalk or pastels. Crayola 48 piece kits will be sold for $5 and 48 piece pastel kits will cost $10. The chalk art will take place regardless of the weather. There is ample covered area to use in case of rain. We encourage all skill levels to come and participate or to just come down and see the beauty unfold.
