  Did you know??
Trees increase business traffic!  Studies show that the more trees and landscaping a business district has, the more business will flow in. A tree-lined street will also slow traffic enough to allow the drivers to look at the store fronts instead of whizzing by.

August Maintenance Guidelines
  • Mulch around your plants to aid in moisture control! We have many choices of premium mulches to choose from.
  • Post-emergent control of crabgrass and summer annual grasses is best performed on young plants using ferti-lome's Weed Out with Crabgrass Killer. This product kills Crabgrass, Dandelion, Clover, plus 200 other listed weeds.
  • Meet water requirements of turf. Mowing heights for cool-season turf grass should be 3" during hot, dry summer months. Gradually raise mowing height of bermuda grass lawns from 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
  • Fertilize warm season grasses using Marcum's Slow Release 18-6-12 Fertilizer or our 31-0-0 for faster results. Make sure to water at least a 1/2 inch (or approximately 30 minutes with a sprinkler) after applying fertilizer.
  • Watch for signs of spider mites. Foliage may become pale and speckled; juniper foliage turns a pale yellowish color. Shake a branch over white paper and watch for tiny specks that crawl.
  • Apply Natural Guard Spinosad or Natural Guard Caterpillar Killer Spray with BT for early sightings of bag worms and tent caterpillars. Hi-Yield 38 Plus or Hi-Yield Malathion are recommended if heavy infestations have formed.
  • Expect some leaf fall from newly planted trees. This can be a normal reaction to heat and drought. Follow Marcum's Watering Guidelines for newly planted trees and shrubs.
  • Revitalize your trees and shrubs with ferti-lome's Organic Fish Emulsion.
  • Prune evergreens
  • Aphids on your Crape Myrtle trees? If you notice a sticky substance on leaves, apply Hi-Yield 55% Malathion Insect Spray
