August 2019

Krishna's life demonstrates his philosophy that it is not necessary to flee the responsibilities of material life. The problem can be solved by bringing God here where He has placed us. No matter what our environment may be, into the mind where God-communion reigns, Heaven must come.

Paramahansa Yogananda
The Yoga of the Bhagavad Gita , p. 13

The month of August is a special month for SRF devotees, the highlight being the SRF World Convocation from August 4th through August 10th. Many devotees have found the Convocation experience to be a life changing event. This year you can participate from your home as SRF now offers a select number of events of 2019 Convocation via livestream. They will livestream SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda’s satsanga on August 9th for free. Additionally, there will be four other events available for purchase, so please visit the SRF website to register: Yogananda.org .

In this newsletter you will find many other opportunities at the DC Center of SRF, to deepen your relationship with God and Gurus.

In Master’s Service,

Wayne Lavallee
Janmashtami Service

We will celebrate the birthday of Bhagavan Krishna with a special Janmashtami service on August 24th, from 7:30-9:00pm. Please bring a flower and a donation in an envelope as symbols of your love and devotion to the SRF line of Gurus. This service is primarily intended for those who are SRF students, or other devotees who regularly attend the SRF meetings. However, all are welcome who are well enough acquainted with SRF teachings to appreciate the significance of the Guru‑disciple relationship, and to participate in the service with sincerity and reverence.
