Karen Griner
Educational Conference Co-Chair

Penelope Burk is coming! Penelope Burk is coming! If you haven’t experienced a presentation by world-renowned speaker and fundraising expert Penelope Burk , this could be your last chance! If you have heard her before - as I have, many times - you also should not miss this opportunity to be inspired by her one last time before she retires next year.

Join us September 13th at Birmingham-Southern College , where Penelope will be making her final stop in Birmingham! She’ll make you laugh, maybe even cry, as she shares with us stories backed by her famed donor-centered research that will give us the tools to be the very best fundraisers we can be. She’ll also make some predictions on how political contributions in next year’s presidential election might affect our fundraising efforts in 2020.

As you can tell, I am a huge fan of Penelope and her books, Donor-Centered Fundraising and Donor-Centered Leadership . And I am not alone - at AFP International Conferences, I have witnessed many standing-room-only audiences who have crowded together to hear her speak. Locally, those of us who attended her previous Birmingham appearances still talk, years later, about how empowering her presentations were.

I highly encourage you to not only get a ticket for yourself, but also for some of your board members. Because, as we all know, board members are critical to our fundraising success, and Penelope will lay out the evidence to prove that point.

We expect tickets to this event to sell out! We are also offering early-bird ticket prices: $50 for AFP members and $75 for non-members until August 31st. After August 31st, tickets will go up by $25 for members and non-members. So there is somewhat of a sense of urgency that you buy your tickets now !

If your nonprofit doesn’t have the budget for a ticket, there’s still hope. AFP Alabama is offering four scholarships to attend the conference. Applications are due August 30th . Click here to apply for a scholarship!

We look forward to being inspired with you on September 13th!

Sincerely,

Karen
