A message from the Superintendent
Like many of you, our hearts and minds are with the families in Gilroy, El Paso, and Dayton affected by tragic mass shootings earlier this month. News of these types of emergencies reminds school districts just how important it is to have the most up-to-date contact information for parents and guardians.

On the first day of school, Wednesday August 14 , please make sure that your child's school has the best contact information (phone number, textable phone number and email, if you have it) for you and contact information for the people who are allowed to pick up your child in the event of an emergency. Also, please take a few minutes to talk to your child about the importance of paying attention during school safety drills. Our schools will be moving up their active shooter drills to occur in September.

Although these tragic events weigh heavily on us all, we also have to move forward with our everyday lives and that means a wonderful first day of school on August 14th. I am so excited to have our students return to school, ready to learn and to be with their teachers, support staff, and friends.

Parents: Important forms are now online
This school year, emergency contact information and Information Handbook forms will be filled out online. Please make sure that at least one parent/guardian for each student is able to log in to our Illuminate Education parent portal . If you need help to access the parent portal, contact the registrar or counseling secretary at your child's school. You can find school phone numbers on our website: Our schools web page .
Information Handbook & parent forms
As mentioned above, at the beginning of each school year, parents and guardians sign and return important forms located at the front of the Santa Rosa City Schools Information Handbook. This year, those who have access to the Illuminate Education Parent Portal will receive a message that will allow them to fill out the annual parent/guardian forms  online , in the Parent Portal, instead of tearing out the page in the paper version of the handbook. Look for the message in your Parent Portal during the first weeks of school. Paper handbooks will still be available in schools for families that want them. To view the handbooks online in English and Spanish, go to our website:
