PEDAL PATTER
August — 2019
by Robert Bernstein

I hope that this finds you all enjoying the pleasures of your wheeled, human powered conveyances regardless of the number of wheels; regardless whether you are leaning forward, sitting upright, or sitting back; regardless of whether you are wearing spandex or a tee shirt and jeans.

The club held its annual Tour de France viewing party on July 12th at The G.O.A.T. sports bar in Clarendon. Dozens of members came out to cheer on their favorite cyclist and team as the cyclists wound their way through hundreds of kilometers to the heart of France in Chalon sur Saone. Thanks to those who came out and socialized with their fellow riders and ExCom members!

Potomac Pedalers Touring Club  (PPTC) organized a weekend bike trip in  Woodstock VA , in the Shenandoah Valley, on July 19-21. I signed up, to see friends and explore Woodstock and the area around it. This was the first time the trip was being held in Woodstock — it had previously been in Mt Jackson, a smaller town farther south in the valley.

The 10th Annual Larry’s Ride hosted by Bike Maryland will be held on Saturday, October 19th, from 7:00 AM-4:00 PM 2019 at Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County. Oregon Ridge Park is located at 13401 Beaver Dam Rd, Cockeysville, MD 21030-21030.

Larry's Ride is named for Larry Bensky, who was struck by a car and killed while bicycling on Butler Road, near Falls Road, in Baltimore County. Please help us raise awareness of cyclists, remember Larry and bring attention to the need for increased driver awareness on our roads in Maryland. More info about Larry's Ride can be found at Larrysride.com

Riders have the choice between four challenging and fully supported routes through the beautiful rural Maryland countryside. You may choose a distance of 16, 26, 38, or 62 miles. Departure times vary and are based on the route selected, with cyclists riding the longer routes departing earlier. No matter which route you choose, come early and enjoy a cup of coffee and a bagel courtesy of Kismet Cafe of Sykesville Then join fellow riders for a post-ride celebration, a grilled lunch, craft beer, music and a full afternoon of socializing.
Entertainment provided by Harry Abramson.

Proceeds from Larry's Ride support Bike Maryland. Bike Maryland is the voice of cyclists in Maryland. Always working to improve and protect your right to bike on the local and state level. and improve the bicycling experience for everyone in Maryland through educational programs, legislative involvement and safety initiatives.
