August 2020

For many, business has paused or pivoted. For others, recent months presented an opportunity to open up and introduce themselves. Here is a round-up of some exciting new places to go and things to around Florida’s Adventure Coast.

Florida’s Adventure Coast, Brooksville – Weeki Wachee welcomes visitors with a delightful array of self-guided tours perfect for social distancing outdoors. Search for bronze mermaids, dazzling murals and lush gardens.

It was fun diving for Florida bay scallops. The days out on the water were all you hoped they would be: finding a fruitful spot, hoisting the diver flag, swimming in the refreshing Gulf water and bagging your limit.

As you gaze at your bounty, popped open on the ice, ponder their shapely shells. Soon you will shuck them, cook them up and savor their tastiness. Don’t discard those shells. Decorate!

Step inside and be transported to a bygone era. The Richloam General Store is pure nostalgia, featuring toys, furnishings and even Wanted Posters and music from the 1930s. On the National Register of Historic Places, as the Post Office and General Store, it was a community hub in the 1930's.

Today, this living history site is also a popular spot to buy unique foods such as pickled items, salsas, dry goods and canned meat. You will be amazed by soft drink flavors and candy brands not seen for decades.
Find out where the fish are biting and how to catch them from Captain Josh Fritz of Chase 'N Tails Fishing Charters.
